One Bloom
This tree withered
bare of it's leaves
no sun or water
has fed it's gnarled roots
which have fed from an abyss
of booze and pills
for an eternity now
a kudzu of pain
has all but choked the life from it
three days sober now
for a tree all but dead inside
from long neglect
has a single blossom
blooming proud and strong
atop it's highest branches
feeling stronger
like no wind or storm
can threaten to topple it again
it breathes a sigh of relief
the kudzu is slowly dying
it's choke hold on this mighty tree
slowly loosening
standing proud now
with it's one adorning flower
wearing it like a crown
refreshing water reviving it's roots
in a forest of burned out brothers and sisters
this one has survived
no the hands of time can't be turned back
but this tree though burned once
is standing strong now!!!
