Where I'm From

I am from Pine Sol and dish detergent, spatulas and forks
Softballs, soccer balls,  and all kinds of sports.
Clorox, clothing, books and food. T.Vs, game systems, and toys in the room.

I am from trees and cars, kids and bikes.
The ice cream trucks, the sprinklers, and the kid I liked.
I am from stop signs, hills, dead ends and lights.
Corner stores and pools and in the street random fights.

I am from mommy, daddy, sisters and brother
In-laws and steps, their current and ex lovers.
I am from aunts, cousins, uncles and nieces.
I am from a family that fell to pieces.

I am from I love you if, when, but, never just an ending.
I am from agony and despair broken til incapable of mending.
I am from a helpful family and loving friends
I am far from the truth, the truth is bent.

I am from hot sauce, and rice, beans with some meat.
I am from cake, cookies, flan and some treats.
I am from lobster and crab fish and shrimp.
I am from every culture joined at the hip.

I am from Ashley, Garfield, Atlantic and Ciff
Suburban Platt and anywhere I've lived.
Read, St. Aug, Kobe, Lafayette
I am from everything I will never forget.
