Mummy’s Rampage

Crank the voice the melody made
Scream to heavens to fulfil
prophecies of the priests
in ancient past
that the dead would live again
to claim the crown
to the throne
once worn by a sage head

Awake! awake the mummy rose
Discards remnants of the grave
Looming over whispered words
The priests, they did chant
The mummy rose to claim
The body once his
a man as bright as the sun
as evil as purgatory’s slum

His evil mind restored
he wished to enslave all humankind
to subject maidens to his bid
to bid man to war and battle
alongside his minions….
Thus, from the vestige of dreams
from the corners of nether land
Soared evil imps, demons and monsters all

With promises of eternal mischief
They did his deed so full of glee
They lived in the mind of man
Made them sin beyond the ken
to mate with beasts
to devour his fellows
to know no kin no mercy
devastation against the norm

Laughter so evil
of malicious glee
echoed throughout the land
nothing sacred
nothing revered
all for one and one for all
feed the lusts
feed the hungers

Until at last, a single soul
A stranger was he from afar
Ailing of an unknown plague
Lay down dying at a temple door
Left to die and then thrown out
Then the people of the town did die
The mummy sat morose
As they fell like ripen fruits

The imps and demons roared
as their mortal coils expired
then the mummy started to boil
within his magnificent body
malady triumphed over his might
his uncanny power
the priests had long gone
No one there to tend his pain

Mummy’s bubbly groans
Filled the empty chamber
Turning slowly into a puddle
Dirty grey, on a stone chair
Forsaken in a crumbling castle
The land was quiet again
And the silvery moon
glittered on.
