I Salute the devil I rejected
My heart was built for two.
Empty as a promise no more. I think of you often.
For once I meant what I said.
Your alibis, innocent smiles.
I was assaulted by your love.
Those sad lying eyes.
Head like a hole, 'cause I've had a few.
I'm looking like the devil I rejected.
Each time I run, someone stands in my way.
I turn from the mirror, n' salute the devil I rejected.

This packs a big punch for a little poem. That last line paints a very deep and vivid picture. I think the first stanza should be four lines instead of three though, and I can't figure out if the spacing in the beggining of lines is intentional or just formatting errors? JMHO. I enjoyed the read very much, nice one! :)

Thanks for the comments.
I just wrote it that way n' that's how it came.
I read a few of your older works n' I can totally relate to what some of your words mean.

Man I felt like I was reading the words to a Don Henley song! My favorite line is the last one...

Yes, that was one of his early solo hits from his second album. Then you can't forget his contributions to the Eagles.

That's right Jazz.
I can recall listening to the Eagles when I was younger.
Mom was more of a Commodores head. She loved Lionel Ritchie.
Thanks for the great comments.
