Forgotten
I walked along the shore
near the ebbing tide
another deserted beach
in a lifetime of strolls
As the sun went down
the rising surf
obliterated my impressions
no trace of my journey
nothing left but sand and water
near the ebbing tide
another deserted beach
in a lifetime of strolls
As the sun went down
the rising surf
obliterated my impressions
no trace of my journey
nothing left but sand and water

I suppose we will live on as long
as someone has us in their memories.
Thank you for your kind words.

It's a nicely conceived &
melancholy poem, jag, but
it reminds me that the last
time I strolled along a beach
it was on the Kent coast &
my wife dropped a necklace,
so that all that remained of us
there after we left was a pretty
pricey stone...:(

So instead of forgetting, you remembered.
We leave much behind, some of it pricey,
some of it priceless.
I am feeling rather melancholy. I guess
it shows. Thanks for sharing you story (next poem?)

Very nice scribe, but felt sad
and lonely..fave lines:in a lifetime of strolls
As the sun went down
the rising surf
obliterated my impressions
no trace of my journey
nothing left but sand and water

I keep feeling as though
neither the past nor the future
matter, that all we have is now,
yet the past impacts our lives
and we hate to imagine a future
where no one remembers us.

Matching mood, hm? You touched a raw nerve with your poem. The idea of leaving nothing behind, no traces, no memories is so incredibly sad. I love that poem!

yesterday is a memory
as of tomorrow
so will today as well
but it is how we live
how we love and
touch others souls
that will stay alive
after tomorrow is gone
Beautiful Write my friend. :)

You said it beautifully, and as a poem.
Thank you for your thoughtful comments.
I appreciate everything you have to say.

And the sand and water will be forgotten sometime too, as well as whole Earth and Solar system, and Milky Way and billions of galaxies... Everything comes and disappears for something new to come...
Guess this poem wasn't about that, but anyway:)
Thank you for deep lines, Jagracia

As a matter of fact, my friend,
it was about exactly that.
Astute observation!
