The Daylight Owl
White and brown
a dancer calls
who
to the sun
as glider stride
echoes
swoop down upon
the mind listening
wisp
gleams in dream
token totem tales
old
as the road
floated upon feather
Wile here sings
owl, and man
listens
intentional head swivel
reading the signs
temporal
while day breaks
a dancer calls
who
to the sun
as glider stride
echoes
swoop down upon
the mind listening
wisp
gleams in dream
token totem tales
old
as the road
floated upon feather
Wile here sings
owl, and man
listens
intentional head swivel
reading the signs
temporal
while day breaks

Some here in our park have been known to swoop down on joggers with bobbing ponytails, mistaking them for squirrels. I cringe and laugh at the same time when I read it.

Is it Great Horned Owls (like the one in your picture) that you see mostly? There are some in the park, but the predominant species that we see there are Barred Owls, slightly smaller and often preyed on by the Great Horned.

Beautifully woven spider web of words, Soul!
Many owls here, my husband can call the owls.
They are special to me due to their symbolic meaning....
