Death, Not Glory

"If battle were to rise, I will sacrifice myself to serve my people, my home, my land, and my town
I will not stand aside while innocent lifeblood is being shed
Joyous smiles have not been presented to our town for multiple decades; only dreary frowns
Sorrow flows melodiously through our howling winds, gifting us with dejection and the fear of bloodshed
What are we to do when Deceit wears the shining crown?"

With freshly sharpened swords raised to the heavens, the warriors are ready for battle
Shouting a fierce battle cry, they rush into enemy territory violently
Time and bitterness has taken its toll on the small town of Watersville
Prepared to shed the rich, dark, red blood of their treacherous nemesis, they will not flee

Delivering and receiving menacing blows, the men are frantically scattered out and on the defense
The confrontation amongst the neighbouring natives has lasted quite a great spell; it is time to act!
For if nothing is done, submission, poverty, and lack of pride will most certainly rise!
The townspeople even know that it is undoubtedly true: a definite and recognized fact

Blood wraps around, hugs each blade of grass, and lies in glistening pools beneath the hundreds of feet
Not one corpse, but many lay lifeless on the ground after giving their life for what they thought was a good plan
For what was the answer, is now the regret of losing precious loved ones that can never be recreated nor replaced
Much was lost in this intense clash, but victory was all that could be seen when this began

After the conflictive fight is over, what is to be done now?
Of course, we must submerge the dead into the protective soil of the Earth and bury their remains
If only we would have went about this in a much different way
We all agree that the enemies were mindless banes,
But " where there is blood, there is death; not glory"

This was all inspired by Flogging Molly's "Oliver Boy (All of Our Boys.) " For where there is blood, there is death... not glory
