Uncommonster; Building a Wall
Listening to the branches dance with the breeze.
Soldier's ankles clinging to the trees.
You look like you could hold my hand steadily.
It's no accident that you crashed into me.
Natural monsters burn your belly, acidic disarray,
and claim what's left of the liquor you suck down every day.
Breathe right, and step an awkward left.
We'll stop to see the view,
but I can't quite let you stop to rest.
Visions of home caking my brain,
and suicide poisoning the countryside.
I forgot to tell you you looked nice today.
I didn't have time to kiss you goodnight.
You're hung all over me,
But not out love,
Out of sympathy for me.
Soldier's ankles clinging to the trees.
You look like you could hold my hand steadily.
It's no accident that you crashed into me.
Natural monsters burn your belly, acidic disarray,
and claim what's left of the liquor you suck down every day.

Out of sympathy for me.
