Image for the poem These hands

These hands

These hands
they pound all day
endlessly loading
or shoveling
they're never empty
These hands have
milked and fed
been bit, spit on
and pissed on
These hands have
played ball with
children and held
them tight
These hands have
laced up a shoe and
lit up some smokes
These hands have
touched a woman
gently and softly
These hands
they work hard and
they play hard
