His Addiction
I watch him as he is lurking
Trying so hard just to disguise
The truth that lay before him
But I can see it in his eyes
He had to get what he wanted
He just could not stay away
He turned his back on family
And returned to "them" today
Another promise broken
Another lie to hide
Another piece of my heart missing
Another part of me just died
He finally decided
No daughter, nor a wife
Can give him what he wants or needs
In his pathetic life
Don't think, though, that he is single
He has three loves to hide his pain
To him they're all so perfect
They are Crack, Heroin and Cocaine
Trying so hard just to disguise
The truth that lay before him
But I can see it in his eyes
He had to get what he wanted
He just could not stay away
He turned his back on family
And returned to "them" today
Another promise broken
Another lie to hide
Another piece of my heart missing
Another part of me just died
He finally decided
No daughter, nor a wife
Can give him what he wants or needs
In his pathetic life
Don't think, though, that he is single
He has three loves to hide his pain
To him they're all so perfect
They are Crack, Heroin and Cocaine
