Progress?
Ants in heat, dogs in lines
Military rule, apocalyptic signs
Poison clouds, moving land
Polluted water, toxic sand
Birds that can't fly, stop lights that blink
We've become so advanced, we can no longer think.
Laser technology, high powered guns
Dark days light by black suns
Garbage cans as kitchens and dumpsters as beds
Life support systems for those who should be dead
Uncapped dirty rigs throughout every park
Try to clean them up, barefoot in the dark.
Mutated bodies with plastic veins of pleasure
Hid in secret places holding priceless treasure.
Industrial sized compactors
The immanent meltdown of nuclear reactors.
Shadow people on stalking missions
Kindergarten teachers with psychopathic conditions
Scarred ground, bleeding Earth
U.S. currency losing its worth
Acid rain on a sunny day
Sit in a field watching blades of grass sway
Tree limbs battle the untiring air
Sit in front of a mirror and do nothing but stare.
Metal horses fly down the street
Amputees with mechanical feet
On a skateboard highway broken down with a flat
By a pile of dead cockroaches being eaten by a cat
With empty eye sockets that see through your soul
Like in your chest were a cavernous hole
Eaten there by maggots born of your lies
As you realize the cats you and you've seen your demise.
