Quest of questions
“You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.”
— Khalil Gibran
We are bereft of comforting wisdom
because we know better than our parents.
Citius, altius, fortius, when the circles
start and end nowhere.
Then who are we but a step further back from
the answers?
And what if all that remains is to ask
our children to comfort us?

... when you realize you understand them
and aren't even sure when it happened.
Thanks for the read, Lil Mama.

Understanding parents and what they were trying to say years ago? I hate when that happens, haha. As long as we don't forget children can lead, as well as be led.
Argh, torn between wanting to know all and knowing I know so little.

Thank you Magdalena... a lot unsaid here, agreed.
I may expand on this in new poem later, toying with that idea.

The wisdom is in allowing others to be a comfort to us..they need it as much as we do...how else will they show their humanity?

What would have been nice here would be to see something. Maybe show something, instead of just telling in each couplet. I mean show by means of an observation, or personal experience maybe.
I do like the questioning. Keep asking, you'll get smarter, then stop asking. If you're lucky. :)

Beautifully insightful, deep & profound Atakti, yet so clear & eloquently simple, in your concisely & wisely perceived flow of interesting, philosophical thoughts & feelings, all so sparely combined & contained within the written words of your wonderfully rendered poem here!...
Well done: a great write & read; makes one want to ponder & savor a little longer (with greater clarity!), the broader, essential, universal meaning of your poem!... I love this one!... (Thanks for yet another little jewel!)

Very thought-provoking piece, Atakti. First stanza & last stanza tie perfectly together. Love the title & the write! Well done! :)
