Hollywood Logic

Here lies a book, a masterful creation
Intense in every way imaginable
One that made your eyes zig-zag for hours.
Your mind is blown at how such a thing can exist
Words arranged in this order should be illegal

Then, one day you're browsing the interwebz
“What's this”, you ask, “They're making a movie!?”
Excitement surges through your body,
“Alas, my life is now complete!
A visual representation? No, the world is not yet ready”

The weeks pass and you watch every trailer,
Take part in every online discussion board,
And spend hours on YouTube watching interviews.
Now the time has come and with your pre-ordered tickets
You take your seat at the midnight premier

“WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT GARBAGE!?”
The credits roll and your jaw is on the floor.
Boos fill the auditorium and rightfully so.
There's an emptiness inside craved by disappointment
Damn you Hollywood, you clearly didn't read the book

The last two painful hours of you life lost
To love story barely existed in the novel
All the action scenes cut down to frames
While the brief kiss was turned into lip-locking marathon
