Failing to fit in (haiku)
Haikus are stupid!
That is what the COOL kids say
and I think they're right!

a poem written as an attempt to capture the essence of the poem she is
I sit with my eyes closed and stare at her face, her eyes wide open and deep brown with a gravity all their own. Her hair moves slightly with the subtle autumn breeze. Her smile is like a powerful yawn, forcing everything to breathe new life and re-open its eyes, demanding joy from the world in return.
As she elegantly moves through the crisp September air I suddenly understand why the sunlight braves the cold empty of space, through 93 million miles of lonely and darkness, just to reflect against the falling leaves and gently caress her soft cheek, to exist for one perfect moment...

Sunrise to Starglow in the Mountains in Mid-Spring
Fizzing fuzz of foozing foam hazes through my head
Crackling crusts of spider web drizzle into dew
Along the horizon hypnotizing lights clash
and crash into a prism of a bright new day
The big dark cyan sky is crisp and crystal clear
except sailing ships of suds softly drifting by
Dreamy drops of heaven wine dripping down to Earth
filling flawless forest cups to the very brim
Until the furious Fire flickers and falls
carefully caressing meadows of emerald
And as the scorching shards of sunshine sensation
warmly welcome long awaited...

Weeping Willow
I see you
just beyond that group of shrubs,
standing in the shadows and the breeze
You're waving slightly - leaning toward something...
I can't quite make it out
The light of sunset fades across your arms
Your slender form quivers gently
almost indistinguishable against the twilight
The entire day has built to this event
as silence holds you tenderly in this moment...
Now forgotten under a silver sky.

standing in the shadows and the breeze
You're waving slightly - leaning toward something...

This is sleeplessness
This is sleeplessness.
His brain shouting in the dark as his insides tossed and turned,
filling with swirling energy that wanted to burst from his chest
and run as far away as it possibly could.
“Oh please rescue me from drowning in my own anxiety,”
his 3 in the morning plea began.
He was sinking in an ocean of over-thinking explosions,
synapses working so quickly he could
almost see the sparks when his eyes closed.
“Count your breathing.
3. 2. 1…
All alone and no future in sight.
10. 9. 8.
She never even really loved you. ...

Upon the writing of my memoirs (Time Traveler)
I've traveled through time from the back of my mind,
exchanging the now to stay in the then.
No need to keep doing when I've already done,
There’s always more now tucked away in the when.
But when the whens grow thin and force open my eyes
the now that is now is not recognized.
Withdrawals of nostalgia have left me for dead
as I stand before the mirror scratching my head.
Face wrinkled, hair thinning, stomach sagging and dragging
my feet to the cold tile, making me shiver.
This truth is constant, the way you phrase it is art: ...

Every day is a new day (Rise)
I rise in the morning as the Phoenix
Crawling from the ashes of yesterday
Refreshed from the dust of my weathered bones
Reaching for the majesty of the Sun
Leaving behind discarded sorrow
Starting over on my continued journey
Breathing anew the vapours of life
Holding on to nothing but my heritage
The “mes” before me become my pedigree
Each Father a child of the Father
Each Child more than the child before
Building on the Father’s legacy
Reaching for the majesty of the Son
Crawling from the ashes of yesterday
Refreshed from the dust of my weathered bones
Reaching for the majesty of the Sun
Leaving behind discarded sorrow
Starting over on my continued journey
Breathing anew the vapours of life

One day ….
There are those who claim to know it all
and have even more
beyond the ruby encrusted skyline
and mountainous timeline,
with treasure troves of tales untold
unheard of by the “common man”
But a beggar can hold a diamond
the size of his heart and watch it
smolder to ash while feasting to death
on the dust of the alley’s famine.
And the fanciest prince can be left condemned,
forever alone,
surrounded by friends that will never be known.
One day…
as we stand on the edge of the end of the world
and sigh our blue sighs as...

those words (my heart unnoticed)
Oh how I long to hear those words
said the way that I imagine
only you can say them.
I wish to feel that sweet caress
as they glide along that tongue
and dance across those lips,
wrapping warmly around my soul,
tightly holding in a tender embrace
my heart.
Frequently I think upon those words
so long held safely in my heart
and how they clumsily stumbled
across the threshold of my trembling lips,
twisting as they tumbled to the ground
dashing to pieces at your feet
unnoticed.
said the way that I imagine
only you can say them.
I wish to feel that sweet caress
as they glide along that tongue
and dance across those lips,
wrapping warmly around my soul,
tightly holding in a tender embrace
