Hot Tears on a Cold Night
Hot tears burned down his face in the middle of the night,
in the middle of the silent emptiness.
The cold ache of loneliness chilled him.
It surrounded him with brisk winter air,
scratching against his skin
then penetrated deep like a jagged knife wound
into his stomach
and heart
and mind.
He wanted to feel like anybody could ever care about him.
He fought everyday to convince himself that it wasn't important
but at night, in the heavy moments as he finally slipped into slumber
his tattered armor sometimes slipped...
in the middle of the silent emptiness.

Restoration
I am not typically a happy person,
but when I talk to you I feel like I am.
You open up parts of my heart I felt were sealed shut,
old diamond mine passages that had collapsed in earthquakes.
With you, I feel as if the rubble is cleared away
and I am once more able to go explore for those treasures.
I am nervous as I walk these corridors though.
I have been crushed before.

liquid pleasure
the liquid pleasure percolates down my throat.
warm serenity crawls across my skin and through my body,
holding my chest and body in a tender lovers embrace,
eventually settling calmly across my reckless over-thinking brain.
a stirring deep inside rises up against fading inhibition.

broken victim
can't you see i'm already dead?!?!?!?!
eyes glazed over, lifeless and cold
my teeth sharp for the hunt.....
afraid of what the mirror shows me,
afraid of the dark.......
it's the heart of it that cuts me through.
come here and tear out my heart.
i want to see you eat it.... cold..... frozen.
consume me, embrace me, enchant me,
entrance me, seduce me and i am yours.
never again.... you can't touch me!
......i wish you would touch me.... but no!
......you'll never hurt me again.
....i wish you would crush me!
i can only hide so long ...

Demands
The weeping tears of the poppy call to her like a child
and she rushes to lie down and comfort its demands
in a warm embrace on a bottomless mattress
as they float away together leaving their troubles
on the dirty floor far below.
I call her from her doorstep with shaky hope and tickets
and she answers the phone with tired, slurred excuses
and my aching heart demands that I just drive home
to curl up in a ball on the dirty floor with my troubles
defeated and all alone.

Her smile was wasted, lost on the cold stare of a broken heart
Rain Falls
caressing his tears
hiding his shame
He misunderstands the sunrise with a sudden shrug of his shoulders
His eyes now empty

MISCELLANEOUS POEM

Upon being abandoned by one once held in high regard
everything is NOT ok!”
The words escape my mouth like
the yelp of a kicked dog
cowering from an offending appendage
as swiftly as hesitation makes possible
to escape the imminent danger and surprise
of trust being shattered on the ground.
The hand that feeds turns into
a fist of nails and pain.
I contemplate this as I lie here
in the cold halo of abandonment.
Jagged shards from these broken rose-colored glasses
tear eyeholes in this old battered mask of meat and bones.
Watching you leave is like standing in the rain for...

Modern Old Fashioned Romantic
I represent my feelings the best that I can
with words made up of symbols
in patterns established by culture
and adjusted over time
I digitally imprint them onto a screen
made of plastic, and light
and technology beyond my degree
and with a magic electric mouse
I push a plastic button and the zeros and ones
fly into the air at frequencies
of a radio or microwave
or whatever
And I hope that the complex process
doesn’t encrypt the luddite message
my heart had full intention
to give to you tonight
I wish...
