i am breathless
every time we meet
your difference in setting
depends on the sun
sitting here with you
is my version of fun
always the same
never eager to please
you put me at ease
as i sink into your serenity
your waves crash
against the earth
the air i breathe
so fresh and pristine
where your tide
meets the shore
i sit and wonder

i have to let you go
we’ve had our time together
i have to let you go
no more kisses
no more shows
breakfast for dinner
a thing of the past
converted me to coffee
let’s see how long that last
i can’t even eat my emotions
food taste so bland
music makes me sad
deleting so many songs
they trigger memories
that replay in my mind on a loop
moments with you
we danced like no one else was in the room
loving someone
you jump through so many hoops
distracted by his facade ...
i have to let you go

pitch black
it’s dark in here, pitch black
i hear my voice, but it isn’t me
she’s sad, miserable, and unkind
that’s not me
but she sounds like me...
and i can see what she sees
hear what she hears
and her thoughts too...
they’re so despairing
i want to get out but, i can’t.
a box? i’m in a box?
why am i here and she’s out there?
she’s ruining everything!
but they think it’s me..
it’s not me
they ask her what’s wrong and i’m screaming
“get me out! help! i’m trapped!”
but no one can hear...

so open in the sun
soaking it all in
sensitive to touch
if i touch you where you’re most beautiful
i could lose you much sooner
i’d rather gaze at your beauty
i only have a few days with you
