POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I be an internationally acclaimed author of poetry, short stories and a novel.
The Bus
I am the bus
The bus you see going.
The full bus
The empty bus
The half-fill bus.
I am the bus
The bus you must talk about
The red bus
The old bus
The new bus
The anyhow bus.
I am the bus
The bus everyone is talking about
They see me coming
And then going
They know not my station
And though they talk,
I am going.
The bus you see going.
The full bus
The empty bus
The half-fill bus.
I am the bus
The bus you must talk about
The red bus
The old bus
The new bus
The anyhow bus.
I am the bus
The bus everyone is talking about
They see me coming
And then going
They know not my station
And though they talk,
I am going.

Fish
After teaching him how to fish,
He told him when to fish;
where to fish.
He's now catching much fish
And they call him big fish.
He sells some of his fish
Gives his neighbours fish
That need fish
So though he sells fish,
No one calls him selfish.
He told him when to fish;
where to fish.
He's now catching much fish
And they call him big fish.
He sells some of his fish
Gives his neighbours fish
That need fish
So though he sells fish,
No one calls him selfish.

Search no More
What are you looking to get
My dear
True love?
I have searched this whole planet
It’s rare
But with God.

Haiku for Japan
I try not to say
Sorry to Japan the morn
Sunshine of Asia
I won’t be tempted
To further cloud this sore heart
With my sea water
It is not distance
That holds back the salty fluid
From my eyes but love
My own apartment
Is flooded with Japanese
Electronic stuffs
My countrymen are
Just like the moving sun and
Cannot not be there
My American
Friend’s a teacher in China
Shining so, so close
Japan has become
My backyard in this new world
Small global village
And the eyes also...

With my sea water

Art of the Heart
How could we aspire
To such heights in poetry
How could we acquire
Such wonderful mastery
In an art
More of the heart than of history?
How could we touch
Others across distance with words
If it be not
An in inspired force?
Poetry, just as fathomless
As love, hate and forgiveness.
To such heights in poetry
How could we acquire
Such wonderful mastery
In an art
More of the heart than of history?
How could we touch
Others across distance with words
If it be not
An in inspired force?
Poetry, just as fathomless
As love, hate and forgiveness.

Cardiac Arrest
Greedy Head of State
Weeping in his grave
A shaded pair of spectacles
Fell from the tiger-clawed face
Of an unprincipled
Head of State
He almost lived above our laws
His rulership, infested with flaws
He grabbed, he murdered,
Plus odds yet uncovered.
Possessed by greed,
He went six feet
Grabbing along nothing
But a worthless raffia mat
Valuing many times less than a coffin.
Weeping in his grave
A shaded pair of spectacles
Fell from the tiger-clawed face
Of an unprincipled
Head of State
He almost lived above our laws
His rulership, infested with flaws

Mouse Game
A mouse was in my room
And I chased him with a broom
I chased him all around the floor
Till he found his way through the door
He ran around the compound
As I chased him around
He sped past on to the street
I followed in great speed.
A voice persisted
In my head.
If David could kill Goliath
Why can’t you kill a rat?
With determination, I chased harder,
In frustration, he raced faster
Until he came close to a bush
He dived into it with a rush
I would have gone after him
But for my aching limb,
I returned to my apartment...
And I chased him with a broom
I chased him all around the floor
Till he found his way through the door
He ran around the compound
As I chased him around
He sped past on to the street
I followed in great speed.

Lekeleke
Most evenings in Warri around the shores
Of McAiver river.
When the sun is sinking beyond the outline
Of these foliage at the other side
Of the graying waters.
When boat men are hurrying out of the routine employ
Shouting out their anger or joy.
When the nearby market is going or coming.
The bright linings in the sky
Begins to grow dim; losing its light
You know another day is dying.
You do not need to pay attention
They would call you from above.
And when you look up, they are passing salutations.
They always do as they move...

Say I Give Up
Say, I give up suddenly
And stop writing poetry
I will be a poet still
There will be such vacuity
None other can completely fill.
Such is my affinity
With poetry of all obscurity
That if I should surcease
Toward it,
Then it was such a joke
For in this world's bitter cold
Poetry has become my cloak.
And stop writing poetry
I will be a poet still
There will be such vacuity
None other can completely fill.

Then it was such a joke
For in this world's bitter cold
Poetry has become my cloak.

OGBANJE (PSYCHOSIS) HAIKU
Now the dance is done
The dancer falls to the ground
Panting to the pulse
The drummer's fingers
Twitching against the current
Of the tortured hide
The ceremony
Of psychosis is over
Until the next dance.

Panting to the pulse
The drummer's fingers

Of the tortured hide
The ceremony
Of psychosis is over

The Word of God
I shall stick close to Jehovah
Designer of the universe who
In his infinite mercy has kept me so far
One morning, I looked up and prayed
Nothing was in me but a little faith
God opened his book to me and said.
Dwell in the knowledge you find here
I have been with you and that’s my
Voice in the moving air.
In case you get stuck in the maze of life
Never you quit for with just a little faith
Everything can be changed for a divine fate.

One morning, I looked up and prayed
Nothing was in me but a little faith

Leave this dusty flesh mine
And travel into the farthest outline
Farther than can be expressed in this rhyme
Explore the very and from the beginning of time
I know you can do it spirit of my body
Travel up, up on my behalf to lobby
Tell all the celestial entities
Of the downslide of humanity
Hint them that mankind is wiping of the K.I.N.D.
And are replacing it with cruelty
Tell them this world is too insecure for me
That they should protect me as it ought to be
Tell those religious concepts I mean to accept them
But they are all so...
