POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Elixir of Destruction.
Watching the bottle meet her lips,
The familiar vodka scent on her breath,
Cigarette smoke filling up her lungs.
Behind those brown eyes,
I saw a stranger sitting on my couch.
She dressed up to look her best at night,
When actually she looked her worst.
She resorted to oblivion from a bottle,
Nothing else made her happy.
It hurt to see her "sick,”
to hear her vomiting in the bathroom,
to hear slurred speech and crying,
to find open bottles – empty bottles.
Addiction lived with her for years,

Self-destruction
Happiness comes in different disguises,
Fifteen minutes is all I need.
I can buy elation later.
The rush of pleasure,
Makes me feel like I’m unstoppable.
The drip from hell,
Tastes so sweet.
Numb and awake
I am satisfied,
But only for fifteen minutes.
This delirium shall pass.
Another line of ease shouldn’t hurt.
Paralyzed, inside and out.
I am pleased for another fifteen minutes.
My eyes are as dark as the night sky,
My thoughts are suppressed in silence.
My happiness disappears,
as soon as my wallet forms cobwebs...
