The Light From Lu Bu's Bridge
Come meet me at the pillars
of Lu Bu's bridge, at dusk.
Through, and although, the crowd.
I will be distinguished,
by a torch held high.
A beacon for you, as unchanging
as it was once then.
During the expanse
of our separate journeys,
I met Father Time.
He called me up
several more steps
of his creaking porch.
Although I stepped back once,
perhaps twice, telling him
not that many just yet.
He said 'Then change'.
So I've traded my armor
for a mule.
My arrows are...
of Lu Bu's bridge, at dusk.
Through, and although, the crowd.
I will be distinguished,
by a torch held high.
A beacon for you, as unchanging
as it was once then.
During the expanse

Corinna
So you finally got an Italian husband,
who bought you a little large ship.
And you get to see your name upon it
when you stroll (behind him)
down the dock.
Maybe this time it will be taken out,
instead of just a floating table
for friends and drinks.
Maybe he will say yes
when you ask to steer it.
He won't, no matter how
you rub your tits against his.
No matter how wide the ocean is.
Only your name sees
the front of the ship.
But damn if it doesn't look good
in the harbor.
I took to...

Hopscotch Lines
A long haired girl
with a light blue dress
jumps across hopscotch'd lines.
Every bound blinds me
as I lose her, in the sky
Then, clouds ground her
Grey turns the day
As upon the tin roof
begin the taps
of the drumming rain
With that steady beat
we dance upon the concrete porch
With seven colors of chalk
strewn across its slate.
I marvel, at how
little girls build their worlds
in primarily bright shades
Seven sides then, to this day
Born into a rainy life
As...

Listen
Listen, and I shall speak
Of lovers' days, nights, weeks.
Bowing heads, in cradled hands
Fighting the fading, greying plans.
To lift themselves, above the game
Of everyday, of all the same.
Like a book reread, yet a page unturned
Like a match unlit, but feeling burned.
Forgetting how, to touch within
They kiss lips dry, an inch from skin.
They hear the words, but miss the shout
Of a lover lonely, and calling out.
They turn to sleep, they face the wall
Never seeing, the other at all.
Lying there, with open...
Of lovers' days, nights, weeks.
Bowing heads, in cradled hands
Fighting the fading, greying plans.
To lift themselves, above the game
Of everyday, of all the same.

Melody
When the roses lose their color
And the minstrels no longer play,
I'll sing you a melody
To put the sun into your day.
When the knights aren't so gallant
And the stars no longer shine
I'll take you from that emptiness
And give you dreams divine.
When the sparrows pass by your window
And the nights refuse to end,
I'll fill the hours with poetry
And love within the satin.
But the roses still have their color
The stars still shine for you to see
Sparrows dance upon...

Borrower's Rock
Our love arrived, on a turtle's back
as we tossed the ball
with our beach-gang friends
It followed us
as we walked to Mabel's store
for a soda and smokes
As our friends kicked sand
and cursed our discovery
I remember you talking
about all sorts of nothings
While I all of the sudden
saw you differently
In those words of yours, was something
And you, the quick light
in such grey moments
asked "What?"
I feigned deaf, and dumb
And said "Oh,...

Peace, Before I Die
Early morning, dawnlight
unfolds the wrinkles, from our
tightly pressed night
Now showered, lavender laced,
you stand by the kitchen sink
Washing plums, rivaling
their sheen
You lean, opening the window
to let the birdsong's chime
the day's awakening
And I can see your places
where I went
The road back, is but
a moment's drag
on this first cigarette
You lean, aware of me
I see your places, I trace your map
Spaghetti straps,
where my nervously chewed fingernails

Chaos
I don't understand
what good I am
to you
if you slice me into slivers
with those historic eyes
Hate the fuck out of me
as long as you can
-As long as you fuck
the hate out of me
Make me bigger
with your wide eyed approach
Catch me off guard
this one time
And I will submit
to your questioning thighs
Am I in, or out
I guess it's all
upon me
to be upon you
one more time
I will throw away
the cookie jars
I will suck only
your salt
Friction in our mouths ...

Morning is rising
as you open the window in our loft,
to let the stars come to bed.
They've expended their energy,
so you lull them home with a low hum.
Teasing them, with an evening song,
like you did to me.
You feed the stars morsels
of last night's enthusiasm
that we had in abundance.
They swarm to the window,
like glittering birds.
Let them in, to rest,
and digest our offerings.
So that they will shine brightly
again this evening,
and drop ideas
down to the well-meaning ...

There
Come, my love
the night holds out its arms
to comfort our weary hearts
No one will see
no one will know
other than I
what you will show
There, it beats
I see it rise
up to me, ah soon
to kiss the wish
that comes alive
These lips, they open slight
all day, but then when night
Rips away the cloak
of sun and shield
and in this comfort
our bodies yield
I stand so tall
but not on my knees
So pull me down
let me see
So close for myself
all that...

Sawa
(gentle fury)
It's been a thousand days
these past two weeks
A thousand things
of nothing I wanted
Every road, a soon intersection
Each a grid
of not much accomplished
They weren't you
They were asphalt
with concrete sides
and obstacles
Like time is,
waiting to be with you
This man I am,
this gentle fury
during these onces with you
(Every time is something new)
This man I am, learning,
has hungers I never knew
For the wonders
that are everything you

Six Olives
Let's not waste our time
with the back and forth
of sober discussions
That routine of sand
grinding itself
against all of the exactness
Funneling itself
down to the million idles
Settling at the bottom
of sameness
An hourglass is just a subway
traveling to wasted time
No, drink, until you're foolish
so that your words stumble
between safe and carefree
Even throw them, at the wall
and I will gather them all
I will cup them in my hands
and spread them out
on the bed
