Poet Introduction
Don't take for granted that Cupid's arrow is a goddamn arrow...
Adelphina
Upon my heart, a gentle tapping
of two lovebirds uncaged
Their wings overlapping
Beckoned forth, my desire's true
Have faith in that it beats for you
Surrounded in flutters, quickly centered
The hum of love so surely entered
to my ready heart, to grasp ahold
of these truths revealed, to unfold
In a song of joy, it's one of faith
that within this passion, it's love we make
Rise, my Adelphina
I see your love's a phoenix
You're etched from rainbows' every ribbon
You're the angel born for my religion
As...

Word Of Mouth
I learned early;
If you can't read the writing on the wall,
it's because you're standing
too close to the wall.
Staying back, there's knowledge in distance.
Because intimacy brings a different awareness,
when my words have my mouth to hamper
any given wisdom.
So it's best to be quiet, while eyes collide
within or without, understanding.
It's easy to speak when I'm cold.
I can sit with all who shiver,
as my stutter blends with theirs,
blaming the current predicament.
Language is an evolution ...

Softest Lightning
Forgive my clumsiness,
my stumbling while staring.
I claim it happens all the time.
It doesn't.
I've never tripped so much before,
because my armor has never fallen
to my feet.
Never, has such a combination
of a feminine smile
and curious eyes unraveled
the mental bindings
that knotted my hopes.
As your hands cater
to every nerve of mine,
reminding me that yes,
I'm still alive
even on the outside.
The red veiled curtain
tenderizes the middle hours
of the night.
My apology for waking you ...
my stumbling while staring.
I claim it happens all the time.
It doesn't.
I've never tripped so much before,

I Love You
Like roses bleed the color red
Blooming velvet petals of flesh
Gifting bouquets of life
Consummating consonants
as we vocalize the vowels
Words held our hands
until our hands held us
in physical sentences
Like the sky breezes into the blue
Creating fingers of soft air
Tracing your silhouette
Leading to night, candlelight
exposing skin above shadow
Like day once brightened us
now we lay heightened
Like the sun kisses skin into gold
With...

Adora
It's time to tell your parents.
I want them to know
that you will be okay.
That you will have joy
above the weight of common things.
That their concern may cease.
That you will hold onto happiness
every day, like apples in a basket.
That I will cradle you
in the now,
as they had, decades past.
I will cradle you
during movies
eclipses
any of the pauses
that may present itself.
And I will wrap around you,
during the midnights,
when the wolves within mankind howl. ...

Bittered Sweet
As friends go, we were quiet lovers
just a once
Absolute darkness forced our fingers
to search for help;
Found our bodies.
Your hands were so cold
that I knew they were practicing
being blue, soon.
So black, though, in the room
You didn't see my eyes teared up
from the freezing
When I put your fingers
to my lips, and blew
all the warmth
that my chest could offer you.
I couldn't see you
not smiling
Knowing this wasn't enough
to thaw forty years
of wintered life.

Another Arrow
(Shooting Arrows At Future Ghosts)
I wanted desperately to call this love,
yet knew it was circumstance.
I wanted to hold you more
than in between the risings of the moon.
But days split us in halves;
Part wonder and part doubts.
Though when together,
I wanted to open a window
that faced the world, and shout
See! Be jealous of this!
And let everyone look on,
as you and I struck a deal.
To poke ourselves over and over
with Cupid's arrow.
We'd take turns brandishing it ...

Sun Goddess
Grey, it's a poor man's blue
It's my eyes, without you.
~
A window pane, revealing
through the frost of the glass
A light unknown; be known
A sun, unsurpassed
Winter held and winter chilled
as my eyes bled away all vision
But a ray of light, now in sight
touched within my prison
She laid her flower down to ground
with the moisture of my kiss
And this said sun, known but to one;
I blessed it with my tenderness
Her softest light, a touch of gold
to value all that she may handle ...
It's my eyes, without you.

Shadows Idle, Underfoot
My shadow, idle, waits for you
under my feet; It's shy at noon.
I am bare foot, feeling the squirming
-The restlessness of that manmade shade
wanting escape.
It can't stand the waiting,
to see you.
Yours will peek, soon,
when you arch into a tiptoe
when greeting me.
Now your shadow, barely touching open air,
like the nose of a shy mouse;
Cautious and curious.
Nervous, but still definite,
as it's stepping out.
How long our shadows stretch, comfortable, ...
under my feet; It's shy at noon.

The Letting Go
Some sort of piracy,
the way you stole
my days away from me.
God, how they went
so willingly.
There are those we seek,
and those that find us.
Some set free,
and some that bind us.
All I'm left with,
you're only gift,
when you wore my shirt
those couple of days;
Like feathered wings,
so uplifted, I carried you
sometimes, against the wall.
I still haven't picked up the mirror.
Conceded, it leans against the wall.
I close my eyes, to shut you out,
yet haven't washed the shirt. ...

Turning Night
Negligence, in the way
you wear that gown
As if heavy, you let it slide
cascading, like a pink-shadowed pool
gathering in ripples, at your feet
This beginning commotion
to our mighty evening
Sunlight holds, trying to mold
its embrace around your sides
But I step between
stealing its reflection
Causing it to leave with nothing
but it's own embarrassed blushing
You're mine
Day can never reach
the scattered evening like I
When I cause the stars to ignite ...
you wear that gown
As if heavy, you let it slide
cascading, like a pink-shadowed pool
gathering in ripples, at your feet
This beginning commotion
to our mighty evening
Sunlight holds, trying to mold
its embrace around your sides
But I step between

Reassembly Required
It's not that I don't have the ingredients
to be a proper man.
A curious-worthy man.
It's that so much is scattered.
How much time do you have...
At the dining table,
forking around with our
April thanksgiving.
Our third date;
No more napkins
covering our laps.
Seems more like the twentieth,
as our disclosures are shared,
consumed with of course's.
Yet one, covered, stainless domed lid;
Do you know I fell in love with you
during...
