Thoughts #1
Girls we love for what they are; young men for what they promise to be.
Loving is a painful thrill, and not to love more painful still.
It is the one great woe of life, to feel all feeling die.
The pleasure of love is in loving.
Behold me! I am worthy!
Majesty and love do not well agree, nor do they live together.
Loving is a painful thrill, and not to love more painful still.
It is the one great woe of life, to feel all feeling die.
The pleasure of love is in loving.
Behold me! I am worthy!
Majesty and love do not well agree, nor do they live together.

Poem
I wish you could invent some means to make me at all happy without you.
The unconquerable pang of despised love.
Farewell love, and all thy laws for ever.
Love is a lock that links noble minds.
Love is a flame to set the will on fire.
How happy are lovers, how pleasing their pain.
None ever loved, but at first sight they loved.
As Old Time makes these decay, so his flames must waste away.
Love taught him shame, and shame with love at strife.
Alas! The love of women! It is known to be a lovely and a fearful thing.
