POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
For Someone Else
yet another
long day done
now gone
i let go too
here under these covers
of my lonesome bed
but before
i surrender completely
to whatever dreams
may come
i lay my hand
upon my chest
to feel my heartbeat
bump ump umping
against my palm
as its heat
stirs my thoughts
warming my cold fingers
like a handful
of sun baked soil
freshly tilled
ripe and ready
for the promise
of some new life
for me to come ...

TOMORROW CUMS
i
wake
in the night
from restless sleep
and think to myself
tomorrow
cums
let out
of my head
squeezed out
of this pen
forged under
these dance steps
of index finger
and thumb
as here
in the dark
feelings arouse
in the undergarments
of dreams and thoughts
then hurriedly undress
out of these
threadbare
words
as my
hand erects
this rigid pen
here...

SENSITIVE MIMOSA WEEDS (sometime around 1991 or 1992; far end of EAST BEACH, Galveston Island, Texas)
he introduced me to sensitive mimosa weeds
ever since i am more careful of where i step
he became the center of my senses
ever since i am more careful of what i feel
he seemed very sensitive himself
ever since i am more careful of appearances
turns out that all these
sensitive mimosa weeds
have more feelings than him
so here now several months later
i keep finding myself

Love In My Arms II (new, longer revised version)
love in my arms
here then gone
comes and goes
like a rare
moon tide
sunrise soon
brightened
into new day
but its clearness
only added
to my ever deepening
confusions
evening eventually
arrived
masked in its
comfortable disguise
down to the beach
as night
slowly fell
drawn out to
the end
of a lonesome ...

COMPENSATION ENOUGH (original - true - version)
it seems
to me
the waves
in this gulf
have intimately
touched
sweetly caressed
and sensuously
loved
my body
mind and being
my flesh
my heart
spirit and soul
more passionately
at times
than any
human lover
i have ever
had or known ...

ONE HEART (I)-(original draft's shorter version; around 1991-1992, Galveston Island, Texas)
ONE HEART
BROKE SLOWLY
LIKE FALLING LEAVES
THE OTHER
SHOOK COLDLY
YET CLUNG
TO THE TREE
HERE LATE
IN THE SEASON
OF THEIR
NATURAL FALL
WITH WINTER S
DEEP CLOSURE
NOW SOON

HIS WARM NECK
caught in
a net of
crisscrossed
perceptions
somewhere
between
balance and
haywire
forget the
highwire
im never
too far
from falling
into some
other even
stranger
reality
awake now
i dream
everything
else occurs
in a sleep
this sleep
a wide ocean
which moves
like a river
weaving in
currents of
subconscious...

Repetition Repetition (revision # 2) (1-30-91, San Diego, California)
down
the sidewalk
some
inner current
pulls me
into this
seedy
repetition
repetition
until some
horny dragon
drags me
into his
darkened lair
to
empty me there
of all my
understanding
as if there
were ever even
any there
my bones
tossed out ...

UNHEEDED CALLING
agasp in angst
against the grain
agape the ghost
in secret pain
in and out
begining end
here and there
forever gone
yet back again
agreed
the severed
angel sang
to beg relief
to lift the stain
as memories fade
beneath times rains
like flowers left
on unknown graves
so vain
in their unheeded ...

Sheer Ecstatic Sanity of Perfect Genius Sun
up before
dawn
without alarm
looking out
my bedroom window
i saw through
its dying darkness
faint
red lights
blood dim blush
illumined across
contoured bottom blanket
of vast low
cotton ball
cloud filled sky
above
spread out
in its
subtle stealth
like some benevolent
phantom presence
of slumbering comfort
some unexpected
deaf mute guest
who came
in silence ...

NOCTURNAL GESTATION
semi conscious
i arose from my sleep
at three a m
felt my way through the dark
to get a drink of water
noticing in the still and quiet
of this calm
peaceful
motionless hour
that the only
thoughts and dreams
in my head
were of you
and that long
deep look you gave me
from across the wooden table
while someone else was
reading their poems
before my turn
to read a few
new ones of my own
each of course
borne into being
by you ...

CLAY
we first met
on the beach
at sunset
clay
from bozeman
montana
had the hands
of michaelangelos
david
with a gaze
like a soft
pine breeze
strong arms
like sculpted
marble
that pulled me
sensually
and firmly
into his
naked masculinity
to feed
our natural
hungers
for
and within ...
