South Africa what have you become?
A land that deprived her people of her beauty,
Have you been raped through colonization that you have forgotten your roots?
Your children are crying,
Breast feed them with your milk,
Pass on the knowledge that your mother, Africa, taught you
Stop whoring yourself to other countries,
Look at you now,
Laying in the gutters,
Your babies killing one another,
Stop them before you left with none,
South Africa, you were once known as the Diamond everyone lusted to have ,
Now you are the diamond that everyone has had,...

Ara
I’ve walked up the same steps every day but what is the difference today? Is it the feeling of emptiness in my stomach, the guilt of utter ugliness that the world sees in me? I am Ara short for Arafa. To my class mates I am a ghost, unseen, yet they torment me with their stares. They don’t know the old wounds that they are opening up. I am 4 foot 1, with short curly hair; I am disgusted by my face. Scars ran down my face marked by an invisible creature that subdued me into its world. Forcing me to join its side filled with darkness.

Letter to my unborn child
I wish I could tell you everything will be okay,
when you are laying in the hospital bed.
I know you will not be able to live a normal life because of the "disease" passed down from mother to child,
I am sorry,
Sorry that you will have to spent your childhood staring at white walls and strange women with red crosses on their uniform,
I am sorry,if I am not able to give you the same love as your father would have,
but I would love you unconditionally.
People don't understand, they won't understand, like us
They will reject you for your status...

Forgotten
Broken into many pieces, don’t know where to go
I fall,
Deeper and deeper into the hole you dug for me,
Where to?
Is this the end?
What has my life become... nothing but mere ugliness?
All I feel,
Is utter nothingness.
Does it please you that I am hurting?
Do my tears feed your soul?
Why do you stare and make jokes?
Don’t you know how much you hurt me?
How much you cut me with your words?
Or maybe it’s me...
Maybe just ... maybe it’s is all my fault,
Maybe I deserve it all,
I deserve the words that you called me,

Her Song
I cried,
Her heart heavy,
Her guardian angel watched over her,
tried to console her,
but she was on her last breathe,
I watched her,
watched her try kill herself,
so did her guardian angel,
She gave up,
but her soul didn't
I felt her,
Felt her within me
She was staring back at me,
through the broken glass,
from a parallel universe,
I stared,
stared at her,
Her dark African skin,
glowed with the rays,
but her eyes weak,
I threw,
threw away the damaged glass,
She was stuck in her world,...
