POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I am. What else it there to say? My likes, dislikes, loves and wishes, mean nothing if I do not acknowledge that I simply am. That I breathe and experience. There is no greater explanation.
Breathing Rage
This is a purge
that will eradicate,
decimate,
lay clear everything.
Stop touching me!
Stop looking at me!
God, please don’t leave me!
I don’t want you here,
I don’t need you here.
And yet your presence keeps me standing.
The rage scorches,
burning up through the esophagus,
spewing coals that were once your soul.
The wrath takes hold,
takes control,
hooks into flesh and pulls.
Sadness burns deep,
etching,
carving,
riddling you with runes
you will never be able to erase.
And the violence...
that will eradicate,
decimate,
lay clear everything.
Stop touching me!
Stop looking at me!
God, please don’t leave me!
I don’t want you here,
I don’t need you here.
And yet your presence keeps me standing.

The Antagonist’s Call
They’ve collapsed
All around
Whispered
Or screamed,
I love you’s
I hate you’s
This must be a dream,
Can’t find stock,
Truth
Or belief
So I’ll erase all the stars
To gain some relief.
They hang heavy
Choking
Constricting the lungs
Haunting gaiety
With the things that you’ve done
Hollow replays
Structured oblivion
Painting harsh strokes
That hides all your frays.
Wind up declaration
Of freedom that’s cheap
But ignore the suggestions
That it’s nothing but weak.
The cacophony erupts ...

Tired
Why must I feel ashamed to cry?
Why must I feel ashamed for loneliness?
I’m tired of being frightened of words
I’m tired of being scared of them
Of wanting to run.
I’m tired of the walls that rear
When words are spoken
Because everything in me screams –
It’s a lie!
‘I’ll be there for you’
No, you won’t!
‘I’ll love you’
And I run.
‘I promise’
‘You know I will’
‘Of course’
Lies!
Lies!
Lies!
And they repeat,
Repeat,
And repeat;
Claws in my skin
Ripping and tearing
Every broken promise I was ever...
Why must I feel ashamed for loneliness?

Time's Storm
A storm had brewed. Not the cold, wet kind that chilled. No, it was the kind formed by fire, created by ash of the living that had been spit into the air. It was a storm meant to forewarn the coming flames. A storm meant to give time.
Time.
They say ‘time waits for no man’, but the bluff had been called. Time waits for everyone. Because time is everyone, everything, every change. Time is not just physical. It is life cycle; time is fast, time is slow, time is a moment that changes a life or multiple lives. Time is not just the seconds, the minutes, the hours, the days, the...

Lonely Tonight
I’m lonely tonight,
Will you hold me in your arms
Wrap me in your embrace
Keep me from harm?
Will you chase away the emptiness
Make the dark something soft,
Sing me to sleep
Hold my dreams aloft?
Will you lay right here
As I rest my head?
Can I pillow my sleep
With the things that you’ve said?
I’m lonely tonight,
This bed far too hollow,
My serenity lost
Seeking the trail it should follow
Will you write me a lullaby
That abolishes the silence?
Let your fingers touch skin
And erase nightmare violence?
Can I...

The Fairytale
Spun me ‘round and ‘round,
In a hall of promises,
The clock struck midnight,
Sapphire faded to black
You, love, are a fairytale
And fairytales don’t exist
In a hall of promises,
The clock struck midnight,
Sapphire faded to black
You, love, are a fairytale
And fairytales don’t exist

What Lies Here
What hope lies here
In my cupped hands?
A liquid ultimatum
Integral drops that glisten
Requiems of a morning glow,
Tides that have turned to
Windows of silver,
Laced sliver of moon
Peaking behind flushed clouds.
A stars death
Shining far past its last breath,
Beckoning conjecture,
In weaving impossibility
What faith lies here
In my cupped hands?
Weathered imminence
Origin that reaches into belief.
Sight filled shifts
That corroborates an intention,
Music unheard by the ear
Rings to a beat wholly...

Not Yours
I’m no one’s responsibility,
I’m no one’s to guard,
I don’t need your protection,
I’ve already aimed for the stars
Why do you insist
On holding out your hand
Can’t you see that I’m just fine,
I’ve my own two feet to stand?
I don’t need your help
I don’t need your care
I wish you would stop looking at me
With that pitiful stare!
I’m not yours!
I can take care of myself
All those troublesome emotions,
Yeah, I placed those high on a shelf
So no need to worry,
My troubles are mine,
Stop trying to slither...

He Loved Me Like...
He loved me like the winter snows,
That blanketed the land,
Snows heavy with serenity,
Undisturbed by the sounds of man
Snows that whispered of mysteries,
And sang with winter frost,
It shone beneath the glacial rays,
A hideous forewarning to the price his love would cost

Night Fall
The night has fallen thickly
World all shrouded gray,
Contempt and dissatisfaction –
A conceptual epilogue at play.
Reveled and rivaled disillusion
Has strained the sanity’s cause
Left a racing world,
Running backwards on pause.
Oh, the thought is thought to be figured
But the speech has been subtly denied
And no number of scorching rays
Can dry the tears that are cried.
The slightest of notions have dwindled
Leaving an out of breath hand
We’re so out of shape in helping,
That kindness...

Promise Me
Don’t promise me forever
Or happily ever after.
Don’t promise me sunshine
Or tears that never break the laughter.
Don’t promise me perfection,
Or unrealistic fairytales.
Don’t promise me that there will never
Be days were your love for me fails.
Instead promise me a love hard fought,
Promise me Jell-O fights,
Arms that will hold me when I cry,
And “I love you” s at night.
Promise me mistakes,
That we’ll learn to rise above,
Promise me children,
That will swell my heart with love.
Promise me late night giggles...
Or happily ever after.
Don’t promise me sunshine
Or tears that never break the laughter.
Don’t promise me perfection,
Or unrealistic fairytales.

To Those That Wound
How dare you say that to him!
How dare you bring him down!
How dare you mock his smile,
Make light that hurting sound!
How dare you walk all high
As though you were a king,
Judging and belittling
Things you’ve barely seen!
You don’t know his life
The many demons he’s had to face,
You can’t mock his way
Until you follow him pace by pace
How can one star demean
Another just as he,
When all of them put together
Cast the beauty that we see?
They don’t scorn one another
For the difference of their light...
