Astray
When I need a friend
Are any of you there?
When I need to be held
Do you just stand and stare?
When I need the answers
Do any of you speak?
When I’m lost in myself
Do any of you make a peep?
When I’m completely lost
Can you guide the way?
I’ve taken the wrong path
I’m filled with total dismay
When my whole body feels empty
Can you help me to feel found?
I don’t know what to do
I’m astray without you
Can you bring my feet back to the ground?

Post Pandemic
We’ll sit in the park
In the dark
Laugh a lot
And drink some shots
We’ll run in the sea
Climb a tree
Have a fight
And hug really tight
We’ll jump up and down
All around town
Throw some ‘taters
And wake up the neighbours
We’ll take lots of drugs
Act like thugs
Make a mess
And eat lots of cress
We’ll have lots of sex
Break our own specs
Troll your mother
And cough on each other
We’ll make lots of noise
Buy sex toys
Swim in a lake
And battle a...
In the dark

We don’t get an invite
We’re not a guest

It’s a long ride
We don’t get a map
You’re not given a guide

You have to commit
We don’t get a choice
You’re not allowed to quit
Alright I’ll reveal
Shit’s gonna get real
Don’t keep your eyes shut
Embrace the whole ordeal
We’re in for the duration

As they’ll be no remuneration

Into the fabric of our souls
We cry

We huff
We moan
We envy
We sanctum
We mourn
We grow
Life’s all about the lessons
The big
And the small
We all have a journey
That must be followed
And become known
If you can’t be at one
With yourself

Then you’ve really missed the point
