POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
A liquid substance With grey eyes As a rain cloud Form is an unfamiliar thing.
journey of transition
I wish I could remember the time
when we were distant friends
living in different lands
and when I thought of you
it only brought happiness
instead of this conflicting
emotion of daring
to think of you as…
what?
A dear friend?
Maybe…
up until the point
when I need a favour
or when I need
for you to listen
can’t you just see
that I am giving all
and you are giving nothing.
maybe you do?
maybe I just see you as…
opposite.
You’re dominate
you know what you want
and when...

I feel like
to you
I am a virus inflicted
computer
that once restarted
throws a series
of questions
inquiries
alerts
and nuisances
to you and
all you respond
are
'not now, try again tonight'
'okay'
'cancel'
'x'
impersonal replies
that show just about
has much feeling
as you perceive me with
short erratic
answers that show no
depth or thought process
within them
but all you expect
is a followed command.
'x'
turn off the screen
'sleep'
I am still here ...

Rubies are Red
She cried like diamonds
and spoke like rubies
Emeralds were under her feet
She wept but she was strong
and rubies are red like
the blood she shed
when she ran in the
trimmed green grass
She fell like the sunset
and danced like pluto
Stars were under her feet
She surrendered with beauty
A small and distant soul
Whose memories could only harm her now
Though stars eventually fall
Leaving the atmosphere large and lonely
She cried diamonds
and rubies are red
like the blood...

Thoughts of an Empath
I am tired of being broken
Being held together by a string
of emotions
that if one is strummed
an echo in my soul
hums a mournful sound
and all around look to see
the one who has been
walking on eggshells
for the sake of her own soul
Who has an empathetic insight
Who can fix everyone
but her self
She give and gives
but doesn't know how
to express her own
longing
to feel complete
I am tired of being broken
worn down by mixed
and damaged emotions
with my head slightly tilted
towards my heart...

And The Storms
And the rain has no courtesy
For the one that has a dampened soul
And wind has no respect
For the one that it blows
And the lightening has no fear
Of who it strikes next
It's just a life
One life
There is mercy for the rest
And the hurricane has no hesitation
For the for the family that it swept
And the earthquake has no hindrance
For the village that it shook
And the tsunami pays no mind
To the people that it filled
It's just a thousand
A few hundred,
There are billions in the world ...

Houdini Heart
I have acquired a certain habit
One where disappearing acts
And juggling fire
Is common and frequent
There is a part of my nomadic spirit
That is home when I leave
And away when I stay,
With people, all the same
A Houdini heart.
I have had a taste of bondage
Much like a tiger chained to a cage
They decorated me with glitter
For the people to be dazzled by my rarity
They kept their distance
Because I was ravished
Not for blood but for freedom
But they didn't understand
I was only a danger...

Beauty
And the beauty
that surrounds her
is faded
as the childhood memories
begin to flood
and wash her aura
clean of colour
She still believes them.
those children who chanted
that she was never beautiful
that a dress couldn't
cover her face
and a pig couldn't
turn into a princess
She still believes them.
She grew up looking at
the billboards
promoting plastic
surgery and stared
in the mirror to see
a nose too flat
and eyes too slitted
dimples in the wrong ...

Wading Within
Finding myself.
where to begin?
I feel like a dog chasing my tail
because once I catch up to myself
I only feel a tinge of pain
coming from the end of the timeline
this life has deranged.
And who can I blame?
The world for telling me I need to
figure out what came first
my personality or my name
and I am only what experiences led me to be
and those experiences have never set me free
from being me.
I’m tired of chasing after a person
who doesn’t exist
trying to mould myself into a sculpture
I’ve only seen a glimpse of ...

Where Her Passion Lies
She wore herself down until
she was almost invisible
and every time you blinked
you had to go find her again
She was like a wide spread pool
over every temperament and idea
and each time you thought you were
prying deeper you felt this rush of adrenaline
and out of the anticipation
you dove in head first
soon aware of the danger of the shallowness
that was just beneath
your plunging head
so you clenched your eyes
and embraced for contact
to another dead end.
and you woke up to find yourself
floating in...

At Arms Length
I've held the past too close
too long
I've held the memory of you
at arms length
but always in reach
and each night
at the end of the day
when I am tired
and have only a little strength
my elbow bends in
and you come closer
closer
until you are pressed
against
and I can feel
your breath
breathe into me.
Please
stay
longer tonight
Linger in my dreams
like the first night
you held me
before you died.
I tighten my eyes
hoping that the image of you
will be stained
into my...

Symbolise Vulnerability
Sitting
Blank stare
quenched mind
biting lip
passing time
steam fills room
blurring eyes
empty stomach
empty mind
water hot
bouncing off bruises
tracing scrapes
it stings
door left unlocked
symbolise
vulnerability
a person
walks in
pulls back curtain
stares
at blemishes
a spark
in eye
hoping for acceptance
this time
water cold
person gone
left the door
open wide
exited with laugh
salt fresh mixed
goosebumps
slowing blood
dampened motivation
to get up...

Vertigo
Do you know that
feeling
when you’re standing
still
and something starts moving
beside of you.
You get the illusion
that outside of your control
you’re being pushed
a way
you don’t want to go.
This feeling describes
something close to my
recent mentality.
Life has created the
misconception that
I’ve been pushed
in a certain direction
that was not who
I was meant to be.
I fought to keep my place
but like a noose
the more I struggled
the tighter it squeezed
around my...
