POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Just a brown boy
After coming out from my mother's womb.
I never played outside, just in my room.
Never went to school outside the block.
When I got my bike, I got hit by a rock.
Always hear the elders talk.
Growing up different, sometimes I would get socked.
Anything outside the reservation, was a vacation for the native kids.
Where all they would wear is Jordan lids.
That's where I went to school.
With my mama, thinking I was cool.
Waking up at six, chocolate mouth, twix.
Making our one hour commute.
Never dressing up, screw the suit.

Mami
When I saw her come out the door, I nearly fainted.
For which I was acquainted.
With the legendary champagne mami.
Her eyes fierce, she carried herself with such brilliance.
It was an extravagant experience.
That first night was fun.
I wanted to hangout with her till the morning sun.
We talked about life.
And what it had to offer.
Stories were exchanged.
Things were arranged.
Events were in place.
Bad memories soon to be erased.
I saw her as pretty.
She said no with such witty.
But as those words came she snuggled with kitty....

I watched my body as I left my soul.
I feel empty like a dust bowl.
There is so much sand, that I’m lost in an no man’s land.
My world had been turned to ash and full of no meaning.
I am stuck in a dark tunnel and I can’t escape.
The word hope to me has no interpretation.
I have no salvation.
There is no light, all you see is pitch black.
So black that I have heart attacks from the fact that I’m not intact.
As my heart bleeds, I felt broken inside. That I cried all that summer night.
Is it possible to have a relationship that holds so much pain but...
