POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Observations:
I’m sitting here at this restaurant casually eating a bowl of tomato soup. I can’t help but notice the lady sitting in front of me with her 3 children eating bagels for dinner that “ were supposed to be to go’ When I wonder did she become the lady that I see? There is harshness in her tone but her eyes reflect something else, something strong, and filled with questions like how did I get here in this place? Why am I yelling at my children? Will I ever feel content again? Her son can’t have anymore bagel until he finishes his macaroni and cheese. It’s the all American dream and I get to be a...

A thought:
Sometimes life seems complex to me. We fight wars in the name of a benevolent God, create division between us as people when it comes to social status, abortion, politics, race, personal choice — the list could go on and on.
We are afraid of germs so we carry Germ-X, but we aren't really sure what is in most of the foods we eat. It seems we are all fighting our own mini-wars of the head and the heart.
We hear all of the time to "live in the moment," but what does that mean, exactly? Would we still have time to hate? To be cruel? To be arrogant?
I live next...

Wandering Eyes
The teenage boy
and his mom
eat dinner together.
No words
just an uncomfortable silence.
She
stares off
into the distance
wondering where
the time has gone.
He is here
wondering how long
this will last.
Then they share desert.
and his mom
eat dinner together.
No words
just an uncomfortable silence.
She
stares off
into the distance
wondering where
the time has gone.
He is here
wondering how long
this will last.
Then they share desert.

Shadow Talk
I feel like I have surrounded myself,
In dances of false illusions,
And my heart is still broken,
And my youth is gone,
I am a woman,
That used to have youthful skin,
And bright eyes,
But now in the darkness
Of my own inner mysteries,
I find myself battered
By a thousand broken mirrors.
In dances of false illusions,
And my heart is still broken,
And my youth is gone,
I am a woman,
That used to have youthful skin,
And bright eyes,
But now in the darkness
Of my own inner mysteries,
I find myself battered
By a thousand broken mirrors.

The artist Pt 1
He has painted me a beautiful lady,
Taken his time to pay attention
To the details and contours of my body
Taken his time
To provoke the eroticism buried deep within me
Now he takes his time to seduce me
With his knowledge of my being,
I want to be his lover,
I want to be a flame that does not smolder
I want to breathe him in,
To meld into one mercurial force,
To kiss every inch of his succulent body
If only he did not sleep in the arms of another
Taken his time to pay attention
To the details and contours of my body
Taken his time
To provoke the eroticism buried deep within me
Now he takes his time to seduce me
With his knowledge of my being,
I want to be his lover,
I want to be a flame that does not smolder
I want to breathe him in,
To meld into one mercurial force,
To kiss every inch of his succulent body

Suspitions
A nice man offers me a bottle of water,
And I feel suspicious of his motives,
Suspicious of my own questions,
And the water has not been opened,
And I feel stupid and ashamed.
And I feel suspicious of his motives,
Suspicious of my own questions,
And the water has not been opened,
And I feel stupid and ashamed.

Sometimes...
Sometimes words
Get lost in translation
Sometimes time
Moves so fast
That subtly
Goes unnoticed
Sometimes
I feel like
I am being forced
To be strong
In places
That I want to surrender
Because surrender
Means vulnerability
And vulnerability
Is to heavy
In a world
When the plate
Is already full.

She waits for him...
She waits for him,
strung out;
legs spread.
Bare bodies become one.
He fucks her and leaves
exposing all of her naked parts,
her humble parts
and the parts in between.
Like the bones of an antelope.
The lion eats his prey,
passionately tearing at her flesh
licking the bones
until they are dry
consuming it until
the marrow has lost its flavor.
Then tosses it to the side
as though it never once was
all of the things
he had imagined it to be.
A zebra catches his eye
and...
