When I put the pen to paper or the hands to keys - I feel as if I'm in a fever until all the thoughts make it out - only then I can breathe.

Kept Losing
I gave up for a while, kept losing
Losing lung space
Losing heart strings
Losing vision
Vision of what could be, what should be
I got caught up in what oughta be instead of what is
I assumed people come and go for reasons I don't know
But really they just go
Their reasons I'll never know
So I gave up for a while, kept running
Running away from all of that
Running toward more of that
Running into a sea of that
Never finding one tiny piece of that
I got mixed up, tangled between want and need
I figured people would...

Shadow, I’ve seen you for so long
I felt you there in the rain and in the fog
Shadow, you follow me to much
What is it that you want me to touch
What is your dark concern

Speaking silent whispers in the dark
Breathing life into a wandering soul
Glowing words haunt me in the dark
About what I’ll find if I keep looking around

You’re never in jeans, your pants crisp and clean
I lay by your side while you make time between
Business and pleasure, work and spare time

You Can Still Fall with your Head Under Water
YOU CAN STILL FALL WITH YOUR HEAD UNDER WATER
There’s no time for silence
No time to kill
No time for justifying
When your heart is dying
Stand on the bottom
Look for the top
Look for the one who
Might come and save you
Might move the stillness
Might cause the ripples
To churn the darkness
Then, glowing from the inside
You’ll rise to the outside
There’s no time for confusion
No time to waste
No time for understanding
Why your feet aren’t moving
Let go of the sand and shells
Reach out for the wind and...

The Safety of Song
When hands left me, music didn’t
It was always there whispering words of strength
Words of comfort, words in the wind through the trees
Words in the grass between my toes
While I run
When faces turned against me, music stayed
It was always looking deep into my eyes and sometimes deeper
Taking away everything that hurt, touching all my wounds
Taking away every last tear, until there were none left
When I cried
When hearts left me, music didn’t
It was always by my side holding my hand
Holding with the strong embrace of melody through...

When that last breath was whispered
And the phone call came for me
There was no longer any music
No longer any words
Swirling round my life
All the world was thunderous and glaring
And the sky so bright, too bright
All I could here was honking and shouting

Soothing my broken life
When I looked upon his face and whispered

Castaway
Like a castaway in a sea of silence
I just can’t let anyone in, let anyone hear
In the distance I see blinking lights from ships
I know I should call out, raise a flag
But like a bullet from a gun, some things just can’t be undone
I turn and my breath escapes me, I cannot call out, not even once
My hands are frozen on the ropes, resonating with this fear
In the distance I see safe dry land but my heart, it rips
I know I should call out, but then the sails start to drag
But like an accidental overdose, things so far were once so close

Girl of a Thousand
You eyes alone
Can drive me to, a thousand days
Those same eyes
That kept me here, beneath your gaze
For a thousand replays
Of all the fires we set ablaze
I feel lost again
When will it end, my driving blind
I just have to know, it is mutual
Because I never want to leave and I’m ready to run
