Poet Introduction
I don't write a lot. If I feel something strong enough, you'll eventually read it.
The Defeat
And there I sat, backed into my corner, staring at the victor with empty eyes. His visage, a silhouette itself, as the sun cowered behind his body, towered over me it seemed. He was relaxed, however. His sword, dripping my ebbing life force, dangled at his side in a way indicative of no defense. He knew I was done. Even as the light blinded me, and not just that of the sun, I could feel his grin. His smug confidence. Not even a scratch on him. I looked at my own blade, a few feet away, still gripped laxly in my hand and thought of the ferocity with which I'd swung it. How he'd parried and, at...

I Lost Another
I lost another,
Who swore they'd stay.
"Friends to the end,"
That's what they say.
But I can hear their whispers fade,
And their footsteps recede.
I can't ignore the difference they made,
But when I'm gone they take no heed.
Is that love? Is that a friend?
Go then, and leave me these scars to tend!
Who are you, so flawed and amoral,
To abandon me when we quarrel?
Who are you, so perfect and kind,
To leave me to the vices of my own mind?
Who are you, to call me close,
With the audacity to open my book, ...
Who swore they'd stay.

The Dream
I had a dream about you, blowing in on a wind of change.
You crashed into turmoil, my routine game.
Perfectly awkward, beautifully odd. You kissed me once, and then you were lost.
But that kiss was so long, and ended so sweet, you gave me a note that read "call me".
Grief overwhelmed, understanding elusive. I grew sick to my pit, the outcome was gruesome.
But I woke up smiling, I knew you were near, Until I searched for your number, and it wasn't here.

Icy Isolation
I stand alone in this big, big world.
It's last light fleeting as the sun disembarks.
Nothing in this icy place unfurls,
But the conduit of every pain, my stormy, stormy heart.
Why am I trapped in this damp, cold hell,
Where the rains that fall are my own tears,
Where there's nowhere to stand that I haven't fell,
And the winds rip like blades dipped in fear?
On my knees, in this tundra vast,
Screaming at the distant walls,
They put up against the night I cast,
Constructed to deflect my calls.
On my knees, too defeated to resist...

Bet You Didn't Expect to Die
Bet you didn't expect to die this morn,
When you finally spoke to your niece.
Her call woke you before your alarm,
But you promised to visit her next week.
Bet you didn't expect to die today.
Not on the pay day before bowling night.
Never thought it'd be the last day,
You got up and put on your favorite tie.
Maybe you would have picked the mocha,
Instead of cutting calories on decaf.
And later on bought your favorite soda,
Instead of that blended wheat-grass.
Surely you wouldn't have left for work,
You'd have spent the evening...

Why?
Do you shudder from the pain
Or the cold?
More afraid of dying alone,
Than by the hands of the one you hold.
You relax your grip,
Clench your teeth,
Standing tall, and dead on your feet.
Awake in a nightmare that steals your days,
A prisoner to a hope that no longer shines.
Slave of powers than can't grasp your ways,
What redemption could you ever find?
In this world that won't hear your words?
What love do you seek,
As the pawn on a chess board?
Thrown away by a king, to protect the Queen.
With eyes so keen,

The Storm's Parade
The nip of the wind, it chills as it bites.
Yet you walk bared, on this cold lonely night.
The pale of the moonlight, it shimmers so bright,
Against the dark clouds on this cold, lonely night.
Your last driving will dies without a fight, as the storm rages on, this cold, lonely night.
In that moment lightning flashed, your heart stood still, and tears splashed. You look to your left, you look to your right, in the dying light of the storm's might. You aren't alone, in your pitiful flight; naked souls trek, on this cold, lonely night.

Drowning in Hell
In the pool of sorrow you wallow and drown.
Though so warm when they flowed from your eyes,
Waves of tears now wash your crown.
But to taste them now- salty lies-
Of loss, rage and love never found.
With seconds left until the coldest death,
Lungs filled with your every wretched breath.
With all the trials for which you wept.
It's so dark in your heart that you can't see.
And the burden of your hate keeps you submerged.
But isn't it worth it for pain that sweet?
All that pain you tried to purge?
Part your lips, just for a taste.

Unreality
In every way
You killed me dead
every day,
those things you said,
cloud my vision
'til I see red.
So I
BREAK from
the futility.
SNAKE
you lied to me.
BENT out
of shape for you.
You don't know what
you put me through.
Manipulate
my heart so much,
but you are only
the perfect slut.
You killed me dead

Power of Death
Love's battered ruins in the shadow of unrelenting perpetuity.
Life gazes upon it, in disgust, of it's own creation.
The cries of it's damned constituents.
Screaming a lament from within a collective soul.
A soul gripped by the icy tendrils of shattered hearts.
And they march, ceaselessly, to a demise inevitable.
They pitch over into a chasm as sheer in darkness as in height,
An abyss they can't see until that final step over the edge of sanity
Because their view was only of the mountain they had to climb,
On hands and knees to the very top.
There they...

For My Friends
Sometimes I cry in the dead of the night.
I'd rather die than lose this fight.
I fashioned a raft from broken dreams.
I float up the creek just to drown in my sleep.
So I can't help but ask why I'm always last?
But I really couldn't ask for better friends,
When breaking my heart is the task at hand.
I feel alone, when they don't listen.
I feel walled off when they don't care.
I feel so much because of them.
I feel it all because they aren't there.
I need them most in the times
When nothing's going right,
I beg for their love when I...

Dreams Die
The air rushes by your ears
You hear the explosions
The screams grind like gears
You can't take the commotion.
Your eyes fly open.
The tension builds as you adjust to the dark,
You're in a cold sweat, the only sound-
The hollow thud of a numb heart.
Your feet hit the ground,
Hands over your face.
You get up for the fridge, for another taste,
Of a bottle of that cheap liquor you've been drinking for days.
It's the only thing that helps anymore,
Your...
