POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I draw from the depths of a well of words and pour out my own reflection
Woe
I drift the stormy seas at Normans Woe
Where cold of winter sings its lonely song
And covers me within a veil of snow
And asks me if I'd like to sing along
With somber waves that roar throughout the night
In rising swells that carry me away
To sing the mournful verses of the plight
Of all the broken ships who lost their way
Who cried for light to lead them through the squall
Or steady hand to hold the rudder true
I swear that I can hear the mournful call
Of people being tossed about the blue
As violently their ships...

Ghost
there is a winter leaf
a pale brown in stasis
that waits for spring to come
and save it from its dread
it shivers in the wind
against the cold it faces
and hangs on for dear life
not knowing that it's dead
a pale brown in stasis
that waits for spring to come
and save it from its dread
it shivers in the wind
against the cold it faces
and hangs on for dear life
not knowing that it's dead

Befuddled
Ramshackle memories framed in pictures
Haunt me with faces and names I should know
Fracture my mind for shards of remembrance
Someone from somewhere I knew years ago
Try as I might to conjure the people
Just for a clue as to who they might be
They remain quiet in glossy eyed glare
All of them smiling and staring at me
Faces of people who hang on the wall
Faces of people I don't know at all
I slip out the door, as quiet as a mouse
And pray, the next place I try, is my house
Haunt me with faces and names I should know
Fracture my mind for shards of remembrance
Someone from somewhere I knew years ago
Try as I might to conjure the people
Just for a clue as to who they might be
They remain quiet in glossy eyed glare
All of them smiling and staring at me
Faces of people who hang on the wall
Faces of people I don't know at all
I slip out the door, as quiet as a mouse
And pray, the next place I try, is my house

Reflecting Friendship
Me and you
Side by side
Always and forever
Together stay
Kind and loving
True and loyal
Hearts that know
Friends for life
Life for friends
Know that hearts
Loyal and true
Loving and kind
Stay together
Forever and always
Side by side
You and me
Side by side
Always and forever
Together stay
Kind and loving
True and loyal
Hearts that know
Friends for life
Life for friends
Know that hearts
Loyal and true
Loving and kind
Stay together
Forever and always
Side by side
You and me

Leaving
The wind whispers autumn from tree to tree
As yellow and red somersault through the sky
A grand celebration of color in throng
With kaleidoscope patterns that fly
One last hurrah from the buds of spring
Whose days in the sun have come to an end
As they lay the patchwork for a quilt on the ground
And return to the soil again
As yellow and red somersault through the sky
A grand celebration of color in throng
With kaleidoscope patterns that fly
One last hurrah from the buds of spring
Whose days in the sun have come to an end
As they lay the patchwork for a quilt on the ground
And return to the soil again

Midnight Moon
A midnight moon comes peeking through the clouds
To cast a smile that basks in silver light
And break the spell of darkness as it shrouds
The things that remain hidden in the night
As if at night no colors are allowed
It washes everything in black and white
To cast a smile that basks in silver light
And break the spell of darkness as it shrouds
The things that remain hidden in the night
As if at night no colors are allowed
It washes everything in black and white

The Mourning Mead
Faceless names abound
Lying in the mourning mead
Pillars of the guild
Rolling emerald hills
Shrouding death and it's remains
Glisten sorrow's dew
A hint of fresh soil
Floating in the autumn breeze
Causes trees to shake
The dark of the day
Braids itself in misery
Among the flowers
I lie on my back
Watching black clouds roll the sky
And fade into naught
Lying in the mourning mead
Pillars of the guild
Rolling emerald hills
Shrouding death and it's remains
Glisten sorrow's dew
A hint of fresh soil
Floating in the autumn breeze
Causes trees to shake
The dark of the day
Braids itself in misery
Among the flowers
I lie on my back
Watching black clouds roll the sky
And fade into naught

For A Friend
Was saddened to hear of your death, old friend
None know better than I
How cloudy thoughts
Make for gray days
I wish I could have given you
The hope that was given me
But they say you're years gone away
So as fond memories bleed bittersweet
I sit and wonder
If suicide is painless
Why is my heart so heavy?
None know better than I
How cloudy thoughts
Make for gray days
I wish I could have given you
The hope that was given me
But they say you're years gone away
So as fond memories bleed bittersweet
I sit and wonder
If suicide is painless
Why is my heart so heavy?

Death View
Death's, mask, is frozen in terror
The expression of the wearer
Lying calmly still in deceit
Legs that would run, can't find their feet
Words held prisoner in the stocks
Scream silent from inside the box
As flesh turns paper mache
The breath of life so far away
Enjoyed by those who come to see
You lying in your cabinetry
The expression of the wearer
Lying calmly still in deceit
Legs that would run, can't find their feet
Words held prisoner in the stocks
Scream silent from inside the box
As flesh turns paper mache
The breath of life so far away
Enjoyed by those who come to see
You lying in your cabinetry

Dreaming Of You
I awaken chilled from dreams
Still carried away by some dreams
When consciousness bleeds at night
To puddle in cold mum dreams
I struggle to keep my wits
Though my thoughts are scarred from dreams
As I'm haunted by the thought
Of your place in my glum dreams
Rest in peace is what they said
But at night you still come dreams
Till I join you in your sleep
And we both dream death's numb dreams
Still carried away by some dreams
When consciousness bleeds at night
To puddle in cold mum dreams
I struggle to keep my wits
Though my thoughts are scarred from dreams
As I'm haunted by the thought
Of your place in my glum dreams
Rest in peace is what they said
But at night you still come dreams
Till I join you in your sleep
And we both dream death's numb dreams

Illuminating Smile
Shadows in consuming night
Where nothing is defined
Sit among the tarnished hearts
That stare off into emptiness
Where lost nomads
Fly reckless with the bats
And moths regret the attractions
That burn them before they're eaten
Within the evening's solitude
A charming luminescence
Rising up to greater heights
To share in her radiance
Ensconced in new horizons
A slight, sliver of moon
Too fragile to hold much light
Smiles shyly in the dark
Where nothing is defined
Sit among the tarnished hearts
That stare off into emptiness
Where lost nomads
Fly reckless with the bats
And moths regret the attractions
That burn them before they're eaten
Within the evening's solitude
A charming luminescence
Rising up to greater heights
To share in her radiance
Ensconced in new horizons
A slight, sliver of moon
Too fragile to hold much light
Smiles shyly in the dark

Black Noise
I lie on my back
In death like silence
Where only I can hear the screams
Mere echoes of screams
I would say, were I to take it back
Yet this offers me no solace, no silence
For I hear them the loudest in the silence
Where even a whisper screams
Praying only to find a way back
Back from where the silence screams forever
In death like silence
Where only I can hear the screams
Mere echoes of screams
I would say, were I to take it back
Yet this offers me no solace, no silence
For I hear them the loudest in the silence
Where even a whisper screams
Praying only to find a way back
Back from where the silence screams forever
