Love No More...
I don’t believe in love anymore
Threw out my dancing shoes
No longer to dance with love
Under moonlit skies
I’m okay
I’m doing just fine
Love just doesn’t live here anymore
Apathy has taken over
Indifference my best friend
Not lonely
Just enjoying the echoes of my thoughts
They keep me company
I reminisce of days gone by
Then I remember the pain
So, I block it out
Heart turned cold
I have nothing left to give
Relationships no longer a desire
I just rather...

Chasing Butterflies
In the elusiveness of her
She is like a butterfly
Pretty to look at
But,
Hard to catch
Admires do stare
Wishing to get close
She may toy with the idea
Of allowing herself to get caught
But once you try to grab a hold
She’ll slip through your fingers
For it was just a fleeting thought
They bask at her colors
So multifaceted she is
Leaving one mesmerized
But reality comes to be
When she
Is gone with the wind

Lost Years....
Where did the time go
So much time invested
In this here love affair
Watching my life pass me by
Holding on to a dream
That would never be mine
I could go on and on
About all my regrets
And how I wish
I could turn back
The hands of time
But,
What good would it do
It won’t give me back
The youthful years I lost
I’ll cherish the good memories
Appreciate the good times spent
Take away the love lessons
Never to make them again
You and I fit

New Identity....
Swallowed up by the darkness
She’s gone
Who is she
I don’t even recognize her anymore
This new identity
I take a glance at the mirror
Looking for anything familiar
I see a faint resemblance
Of who she was
But
Not enough to claim her
I look in her eyes
And I see bitterness
Anger
Hurt
And a shit load of regrets
Once upon a time
I was able to encourage her
Help her see the silver lining

It’s as if I have gone mute

Life....
Today I felt like reading some poetry
Something I find I rarely do these days
And I came across a poet
Who wrote about her pain and darkness
So effortlessly
Her lines truly touched me
I understood what she felt
Why she did some of the things she did
Even if that path wasn't exactly the same as mine
But, her lines took me back in time
To a young me dealing with a lot of pain
And finding ways to escape
I clicked on poem after poem of hers
And felt I had to subscribe to her
Just to read more

Walk Away....
I waited for an apology
One that never truly came
My mind said let it go and keep it pushin
But, my heart was devastated
I built you up
In my mind
What a big let down
I always knew
Never to put my trust in man
But,
You were different

Turns out
You are not the rare commodity
I thought you to be
What a rude awakening

Cover me
I heard someone say
He burned sage for her
Before she left their home
I can’t speak on it
Because I don’t practice using it
What I believe in is prayer
That’s my protection
So, give me a man that
Before I fall asleep
And before I leave our home
He prays over me
Let that be my protection
Give me a spiritual man that covers me
Guides me and shows me the way
That knows what it is to love
From the depths of him
Knows the essence and true meaning
Of being a King to his Queen
A man that knows...

No Happily Ever After....
I take a trip down memory lane back to when he met she
What a beautiful love story that was unfolding
Even in the midst of complications and confusion
I see flashes of smiles
I hear faint giggles
I see googley eyes
That spoke a language
Only their hearts could understand
I hear soft whispers
And feel sensual kisses
With passionate love making
Hands and legs intertwined
While their hearts aligned
And their beat became one
The harmonious melodies
That played off at a distance

Unravel Me....
I know you wish you could understand me
But I’m not meant for you to unravel
Layers upon layers
How badly do you want to know the real me
Centuries
Eternities
Lifetimes have come and gone
And throughout my travels
I never met one man that could unravel me
Pull me close
Just a little
Now that’s too much
Watch me push you away
See this heart of mine
Been through some things
So it knows better than my mind
So it tells me to run away
When you get too close to my heart
Causes less pain that...

Not You....
I took the yin/yang
And I tattooed it on my heart
There I placed it as a reminder of what we were
Memories slowly fade
I try to grasp silhouettes of you
But it’s just a figment of my imagination
It’s not the reflection of you
You are not who I made you out to be
So I find my self
Looking for the idealized you
I don’t dwell in the realm of reality
For it leaves disappointments
But then they would say

By living in an idealized world

Trapped Little Girl
Do you know fears of little girls
Boogie men that creep behind closed doors
Shadowed images dancing on walls
Sad and scared faces hidden under blankets
Low whispers of prayers
Father do you hear me
Please make them go away
Tear stained eyes
What’s wrong with me
Why do I attract such sick individuals
I can’t be beautiful
But then again maybe that’s it
So I curse my looks
For it keeps bringing more of them

A Little Piece of Peace
Lilies and daffodils
I just wanna run through a field
Grass under feet
Sun illuminating the sky
With its rays of sunshine
I wanna twirl
Head to sky
While listening to music
Feel the beat pulse through me
I just wanna run free
Let the wind carry me away
To a place where burdens are light
Happiness is constant
