No Happily Ever After....
I take a trip down memory lane back to when he met she
What a beautiful love story that was unfolding
Even in the midst of complications and confusion
I see flashes of smiles
I hear faint giggles
I see googley eyes
That spoke a language
Only their hearts could understand
I hear soft whispers
And feel sensual kisses
With passionate love making
Hands and legs intertwined
While their hearts aligned
And their beat became one
The harmonious melodies
That played off at a distance
When he and she were together
Bystanders could take one look and see
How their love radiated
To where non-believers of love
Became believers once again
It was a true love story that went awry
Somehow, they didn't follow the script
They played by a different set of rules
Love makes no sense to the logical mind
But the heart gets it
Even when left broken
Two halves of a whole
That came together
It should have been for the long haul
That was the goal
But, in life
Things don't always go as you'd like
A mirror that reflected back she
A mirror that reflected back he
And for moments in time
They did feel as one
A complimented pair
The Extravert and the Introvert
Both helping each other shine
And pick up where the other falls short
Oh yes,
It was a true love story
One that should have been written about
One that should have played out on the big screen
But unlike all the fairy tales you see or read about
This one has yet to have that happy ending
The record seems to have a scratch
So, it's just constantly on repeat
but, I long to hear the song play at length again
So, we can yet
Once again
Dance under moon lit skies
While our eyes gaze at each other
Looking way deep into one’s soul
Communicating once again
All the love that we hold for each other
I snap back from memories
Of watching days go by
From the projection in my mind
Of he and she
And how she longed for the happily ever after
And just never got it

I’m sooooo familiar with “unhappily ever after” that it makes my stomach ache like I ate something bad... excellently verbalized though...
