POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I am Angela and sometimes I write....what else can I say?
Just rambling.....
Sometimes
nothing
can
be
done
So it's ok
to do nothing
Meanwhile
nothing
turns
to
quite
a bit of
something
Sometimes........
nothing
can
be
done
So it's ok
to do nothing
Meanwhile
nothing
turns
to
quite
a bit of
something
Sometimes........

Of changes to come...
You say you want protection
but you give them
the coordinates to find you
You say you want truth
but you give them
the fold to blind you
You say you want freedom
but you give them
the shackles to bind you
After all is said and done
they have come for you
never mind you
but you give them
the coordinates to find you
You say you want truth
but you give them
the fold to blind you
You say you want freedom
but you give them
the shackles to bind you
After all is said and done
they have come for you
never mind you

Memoirs of a suicidal teen
We are waiting for the night to fall
awake are the sleepers in Metropolis
Hollow streets we walk
corrosion
razor wire
of hopeless things we talk
The passion of lovers is for death
And the tears we cry will rain on walls
Flickering flames in the dark
silent
violent
holding on to the spark
In this rosegarden funeral of sores
we seek an escape from this labyrinth place
there is no time to cry
solemn
holding hands
as blood runs dry

The ocean went dry
three days ago
All water gone
as far as eye can see
Still sitting here
waiting
for the tidal wave
to come

The absurd adventures of Whalebone Jim #3
Whalebone Jim woke up from his siesta. It was already late afternoon. He hardly remembered how he got home from the beach, where he hung out earlier, after his buddy had dropped him off at the liquor store. Whale stumbled to the bathroom to take a piss. His face was hurting and his ribs seemed bruised. As he walked by the mirror, he caught a glimpse of himself.
“Son of a bitch…look at that black eye!” He examined himself closer. His right eye was swollen shut and radiated a colorful palate of blue, purple and shades of green. Slowly bits and pieces of memory sputtered back into his...

Spiritual Contraction
Such perfect body
wrapped in cute
trendy ensemble
bamboo fiber
organically grown
carbon footprint zero
So much happiness
So much serenity
all rolled up into a yoga mat
positivity mandatory
and yet
heart chakra
the size of a chicken's ass

Cowboy
I hear steps on the porch
boot heels and the ching of spurs
familiar silhouette
framed by the door
It's that time of the year
he comes around
with the wandering wind
"Ma'am...!"
He tips his hat
blue piercing eyes
gleaming under the rim
crow's feet like river beds
gaunt face
skin like leather
smell of saddle grease
trail dust on his clothes
Coffee cooking on the wood stove
I offer him a chair
"You're looking tired"
He takes off his hat
takes a seat
"It's the mileage, not the...

Observations
I sit at the coffe shop in a mexican town,
waiting for my clothes from the laundromat.
Expats gather here in the morning.
I wonder why they call themselfes expats....they still ooze patriotism.
Corpulent upper middle class women flaunt their diamond rings.
Husbands...ex military....bragging about their achievements.
"We live in paradise!" they say
"We own a gorgeous house by the beach....and a boat...
and the mexican gardener
and the mexican cleaning lady
are so cheap."
I wonder how the Mexicans feel about paradise...
waiting for my clothes from the laundromat.

Simple Physics
Don't push your luck
up a mountain
because
once you hit peak
it all comes
tumbling down
the other side
up a mountain
because
once you hit peak
it all comes
tumbling down
the other side

Two Prayers
#1
Life
when you invite me in
give me a sword
of tempered steel
and gentle touch
of loving hand
So that
my soul
will be
warrior of love
as without love
strength is nothing
but brute force
#2
Death
when you come for me
make it swift
and unexpected
like a bullet
straight to the heart
so that
when I crush
into the end
there is no struggle
no time left
to hold on
