At first sight a precise description of the wonderful world of gravity. ;-)
Digging a little deeper, this also may be an allusion to the antique question of "hubris". In particular, it reminds me of Polycrates' Ring.
"Drum, willst du dich vor Leid bewahren,
So flehe zu den Unsichtbaren,
Dass sie zum Glück den Schmerz verleihn.
Noch keinen sah ich fröhlich enden,
Auf den mit immer vollen Händen
Die Götter ihre Gaben streun." :-)

Yeah, you got it. I think the laws of physics apply on many levels....there we enter the realm of metaphysics. I like your quote...it sums it up quite nicely.
