Insomnia
Another night, all trapped in my head
Under the covers, wide awake in my bed.
My mind is racing, I just want to sleep
But I can't, it's so hard when your thoughts run so deep.
I fluff up the pillows, change the position which I lay
Why, oh why can't I just drift away?
I want to nod off and enjoy a sweet dream
But instead it's a nightmare, I just want to scream.
I toss and I turn, my brain starts to stress
I don't know what to do, no rest for the wicked I guess.
And as I resign myself to another night of pain ...

Festive
Halloween has gone
And soon there'll be snow
Christmas is coming
Only a few weeks to go
The nights get darker
There's a chill in the air
The people all get busy
There's so much to prepare
Laura starts looking
For all the nice gifts
She knows that to afford them
She'll have to work the night shifts
The days go by
Soon Santa will be here
The Smith's start to worry
They're still paying off last year
Single mam Sally
Hates seeing her boys upset
She buys all the newest toys
And...
And soon there'll be snow

Black Sheep
You're part of the flock
Or at least just about
You're the one sheep
The rest can do without.
You wish you could fit in
But it's so hard to change
The other sheep talk
About how they think you're so strange.
All you want are some sheep
Who will be a friend to you
But you get outcast and isolated
And it makes you feel blue.
You start thinking to yourself
What have I done wrong?
But you find another black sheep
And you start to get along.
They make you feel good, and
Tell you...

Afterlife
In life, the vivid colours of the world were a joy to behold.
In death, there is only the blackness of the eternal abyss.
I feel no pain here, though I feel nothing else
Except time, everlasting and unending
If only I could be alive for one more day.
The maggots have had their feast
My bones lie here, still
Like all the others.
I know no smell, taste or sight
All I have is an eternity to think,
And it's driving me crazy.
Is this purgatory?
Had I been a better person would I be up sitting on a cloud with...

The Last Lion
The lion roams the plains
On the prowl, he shows no fear
He is the hunter
Or so it would appear
He's spotted his prey
And moves in to attack
He fails to hear the sound
Of a rifle cocking back
The lion strikes
And makes his kill fast
He thinks the jobs done
But the feeling won't last
He starts eating his catch
But the lion's soon stopped
A quick pull of the trigger
And the lions now dropped
A couple emerge from the bushes
They'd been hiding in cover
They kiss in celebration ...
