Chinatown Blues
Chinatown Blues
Teatime in Chinatown
Where the old men play Mahjong
While reciting Lao Tzu over ramen noodles
Whose Tao is a Macau séance
For spirits of ancestors
Like the memory of an opium den
In a dream for a wizened apothecary
Bearded in ashen white
Who sells the dust of dragon bones
As a cure for the immigrant blues
Where Mandarin women chirp
Like songbirds in a bamboo forest
Lost in the mists of Sichuan
But having crossed the Pacific ring of fire
With volcanic ash of tears

A Soft Whisper To The Wind
In my pilgrimage as caged minds unfurl
Upright in peace crucified of its lashing words
My ancestral rite of passage I crossed over to gain wisdom found not
of this time
Spoken to the earth of whispered sacred benedictions of the sublime
Hearts dancing in rejoice to have the sanction of Creole dialect
wisdom of the wise
To give unto ancient sovereign, my King, this woman’s worth entwined
of universal beliefs from sundown to sunrise
Preordained upon...

lightning
Lightning cut through
the grey gloom of the day
like CPR for the soul
...
He said
the flash was God taking photos
She said
that's something her mother would say
I said
she's not poetic enough for that
...
The light was so bright
it lit up my room
through the black out curtains
slapping me back
from the edge of sleep
...
I expect to dream
in electricity
the grey gloom of the day
like CPR for the soul

Tayassuidae Family, Visits
it’s 3am
the Squadron’s musty scent persists
7 adults, 2 of which Parents of
two cute foot-long “Reds”
no idea why
Javelinas congregate
just outside my front door
Perhaps it’s an Empath gig
natural attraction
Flora, Fauna…..Fae?
Whatever their reasons
a wee bit annoying
when I am ready to
start my day or
awaiting a
grocery delivery

the big illusion
The big Illusion
I’m too tired to find any meaning in life. We are born, and our only function is to sow our seed and then depart the scene before we become a burden to the new generation who, after jubilant years, will see that they are born into death. to entertain ourselves, we make a simple act of leaving our seed behind by using magical words into something we call love, and since the thought of being dead forever is too harsh to contemplate, we invented religion and live our lives in an illusion, a fairytale of final lies, we do see the day we die when we are swallowed up by...

Collections of matter
-- atoms of stardust and dinosaur shit --
that for some obscure reason
(or no reason at all)
have the ability to experience
their own existence.
That's all we are, really.
Maybe this sentience
is imbued upon us
by some Ultimate Sentience
that just wants to
not
be
alone.
Or, maybe it's random physics.
Maybe it just IS.
Does it matter,
this immaterial insight?
Either way, we only get to operate
this meat suit
for a miniscule blink of...

Locomote
11/30
Locomote
a family of five
adults strutting “ en pointe “
the young, miniatures
giving playful chase
Our early morning walk
Me for light impact exercise
Them, I assume, looking
Bugs, worms, whatever
Reminded me of a Tap Dancer
who had not yet donned
metal plates
rendering them silent taps
tapping
This morning, one adult
flew high and very quick
never knew (or seen)
a Quail could Fly like that

Caution Light Red
Caution Light Red
If the earth was a giant tortoise
Plodding across the zodiac
Like a shoeless hobo on his way to New Orleans
How would the moon sleep?
In the afterglow
Of its virgin lunar soil
And the cryptocurrency fields of green
Of our home world
Plundered and looted
By billionaire funded creepiness
Conspiring with the American Mussolini
To grope Lady Liberty
Like deconsecrated men of the cloth
Seeking salvation
Beneath the copper robes
Of the French lady in New York Harbor
Who bears the torch of...

I'm eating lunch in the mall
so far I've pissed off
a guy on a laptop
by sitting across from him
in the crowded seating area
and he got up in a huff
like he'd staked a claim
over the whole fucking booth
and I'd overthrown his peace
There's a white guy
at the next table over
dressed in a wool trench coat
over a button up shirt
long pants and boots
he has a collection of
classic literature
with clearance tags
clearly visible
He looks like a cross between
a Mormon
and a...

Wide-eyed no Blinking

Wide-eyed no Blinking
I believe it was my very first summer
Summer camp to be exact
Meteor Ranch, in Upper Lake,
California
Little to no light pollution
That first night the sky was so dark
The stars seemed Brighter
than the ones in the city
I think this magic moment
also, my first
Shooting star!
I held my breath,
Made a wish
And then saw another white streak
WOW!
My wish kind of came true
I got to return every summer
but as staff

after a storm
After The Storm
Now that the spring tempest is over and the ground
is littered with twigs and juicy, green leaves flung
off mother tree long before they should, it gladdens
the woods that the old oak still stands although it is
almost hollow inside and is home to a family of foxes,
myriads of insects, and a 40 years old bachelor hawk.
It is the oldest wild tree around; there is an older
one though an olive tree that still remembers when
Roman soldiers marched through here and the...

PREDATORS IN SKIN
They are dark shadows, wolves, wrapped in sheepskin,
stitched with barbwire from the pain of victims
Their words, silky smooth, cutting through butter like sheaths,
chainsaws welding bloodstained blades cloaked as kindness
The rot, shepherd pies baked with pain and torture
adolescents in age, quivering beneath their hardened shells
reason disappear like breaths in winter frost
When you're dragged through their genocidal realm.
There are no “ethics” that holds them back,
No cloth of conscience left to tug
They mimic...
