Observational Poems
POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poetry about life, society and the natural world
Observational poems offer a view of life from the world the writer inhabits. You'll find social, political and nature poems that provide an outlook on life around the globe. Observational poetry offers social commentary on subcultures, war, poverty, street life and politics. Along with social poems, you'll also find poetry here which explores the natural world. This broad category has poetry about everything to do with the way the world works (or doesn't work).
A Toast To Time And Self Empowering (Part II of Part II)
Just a reminder ladies, and worth repeating always in awareness, I am advocate for Breast Cancer, and Children Cancer on behalf of the Susan Komen Brest Cancer Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, my two passions, my lifelong charities and raising funds for sponsorship funding, and my goal to participate with my feet on behalf of Susan Komen Race For The Cure.
In addition, in since, my running crew and I will be running our first 15K, that is always my first run, my first run, (The Mini-Heart Marathon) I run that on behalf of anyone who suffers from heart disease,...

Presumed hunger
Premeditated situations
and pre-cooked annihilations.
Preheated eliminations,
precepts, losses, predators,
nothing changes the colors of poverty.
Chameleons are the rich ones
and they change, change color
and change again to a color they don't have.
The rich eat poverty for breakfast
so let's change directions,
change emotions,
and let's eat the rich
even though the rich are poor
in nutrients and proteins.
Since they have many colors,
we will eat them with our eyes
and season them...

Why is Art?
I sometimes think
that when you’re young
you think of art as
a provocation,
and when you’re old
you take it as
a comfort more
than anything,
and in between
it serves as both
depending on
each need and want.

Carry On dot.com Sitcom
Skinstorm of scripts
written upon Wi-Fi wrists,
ever the moon is vowel shaped
Wide to receive
from another lonely hand,
as roadkill waiting to be shovelled
earthed into the ground
Who will chalk around cursors
at love-crime cyber scene?
Something is squeezing your skull
Surfing Transmitted Disease,
tinder sticks smoulder desire
before rain retreats to the sky
& reality nothing more than a drunk emoji
Post mortem modem
threads bone though keyboards,
no ghosts in the machine
only...

A Toast To Time And Self Empowering
Just stopping through on a Saturday, the Sabath Day, in my culture, and I am fasting, due in part to Ramadan, and for all Christians who are celebrating, Lent, my spiritual incantation(s), to advice you, may peace, find, you as it cradles and keep you.
I would like to wish everyone a consecrated day and it is early March, wow...time is progressing. Spring is almost upon us can you believe kids will be heading to Spring Break, some parent(s) will be ushering their child/children to collage for the first time during the incoming Spring semester.
It makes me think back to...

tracks, tunnels, trains....
I see the truth-i so desperately choose to refuse; I soak within illusions- because they're comfortable.... like being fully clothed- with a decent pair of shoes; things aren't all too bad, when one's locked inside a room;
drinking boose like juice- thoughts of life's impending doom; knowing that one never will get rid of shades of blues; plagued with thoughts that come and go- that opens all the wounds....
worlds apart from many- took the red pill and the blue; flight is what I do- every time chaos ensues; and...

Cultivating Moss
You can spend your time spinning in circles
chasing shadows in the wind
pushing back against the tide
You can run and hide
waiting for relentless darkness to rescind
Dig yourself a fallout shelter
stacked with twenty thousand tins of magic beans
Dissect every word that’s ever spoken
still not knowing what they mean
Live in total isolation
let your mind go round and round
Keep asking those same questions
to which no resolution can be found
Make a monument to madness
sacrifice your hope and dreams ...

Conflagration
I was roused from sleep that night,
an awakening that was
like the jab of a nightmare.
With heart pounding, I wobbled
toward the door, then I stopped—
the commotion was outside.
Cautious now, I creaked it
open and sirens rushed in.
Barefoot on spiky, wet grass,
I reached the fence and tiptoed,
I felt the heat on my face
saw the skyline set aflame.
America is burning.
an awakening that was
like the jab of a nightmare.
With heart pounding, I wobbled
toward the door, then I stopped—
the commotion was outside.
Cautious now, I creaked it
open and sirens rushed in.
Barefoot on spiky, wet grass,

In America
In America
has privilege poisoned us
contaminated the water
in our pipe dreams
driving us to hate our neighbors
cause the HOA said
you didn't trim your flowers right
In America
gold our false idol
pull up your boots
tie them up tight
it's all up to you
missed the bus couldn't pay the rent
living in a tent outside an abandoned school
In America
my sister has rules
row yourself up the river
cover your face bind your hands
walking through a street of fools
listen to the poor rich man...
