Hi Webmiss

Thanks for all the work you've done ... I'm just sorry I didn't use the site as much as I should have ... I'll be thinking of you and the others I met around here ... of the poems I wrote and posted ... of the poems I read that others wrote ...

I'm still writing  but not posting ... which doesn't mean I won't miss you ...

As for my poems ... there's something poetic about letting them die with the site; to dissolve into entropic oblivion ...

Coda

By Basil Bunting

A strong song tows
us, long earsick.
Blind, we follow
rain slant, spray flick
to fields we do not know.

Night, float us.
Offshore wind, shout,
ask the sea
what’s lost, what’s left,
what horn sunk,
what crown adrift.

Where we are who knows
of kings who sup
while day fails? Who,
swinging his axe
to fell kings, guesses
where we go?

Goodbye, For Now

It's sad to hear that DUP is closing down. I've been inactive for awhile considering life has been busy for me as a new parent, but it hurts a bit. I think I just took for granted that the site would always be here once I decided to come back. Losing DUP is a reminder to treasure spaces of creativity and community while you have them. I will miss the people I met through here who provided the necessary feedback which helped me grow my writing abilities and confidence. I hope you all stay healthy and live long, happy lives.

Thanks, DUP and Webmistress.

Thank you.

To all.

Webmiss.

Thank you for making and keeping this garden, this sanctuary or human emotions and art for the period you have.
On behalf of each and every human that spent a day a week a month and some cases decades here finding peace, escape and more often than not kindness and friendship. Words just won't cut it.

All the mods, poets past, present and departed a heartfelt gratitude.
To all those that were ever hurt directly or indirectly at any time by my words or acts please accept my apology. I hope you forgive me.

I wish everyone all the best and u hope we all find some place at least in some way resembling DU and we get to connect and grow together. There won't be another DU.
Mods- past and present... please accept my sincerest gratitude for your selfless service to du and art

So many of you don't realise that you are some of the greatest artists I have ever come across and crossed paths with. It is not necessary in life that the greatest of poets and writers get recognised perhaps they just hold their art too close or perhaps it is just not meant to be. Just remember, you are all admired and your art does affect a lot more than you would ever imagine. So keep doing what you do ..

respects and regards
cf

I just found out the news in my inbox this morning. I had to reset my password and then spent way too much time crying as I walked down memory lane.
Webmiss and DU….Thank you for more things than I can find the words to say right now.
13 years and seemingly many lifetimes ago…….
I’d like to think Gemini (Falco, Jackson Kane, and whatever other names we know him by lol) and I were DU’s first “power couple” 🤣 Many watched our love blossom through our words, they also watched our struggles. We were honest, raw, we were soulmates. We are still soulmates although these days we have to choose our words carefully and call each other friends. Sometimes the pain is unbearable of what could have been and why it didn’t work out. I have my life in TN and have a 9yr old son now. He still lives in Chicago. We keep in touch but I’m the one that sucks at it. I think I have a harder time coping with things. We play fantasy football together every season which is awesome! Sometimes I get drunk and pour my heart out too much in texts. What a beautiful but complicated love we shared and still share. I made the choices I did, couldn’t see a way forward and chose a different life.
One day, in another life, he will yet again be my “Love at First Light”

There you go folks...prime example right here..that nothing lasts forever.
And nothing should be taken for granted.
Especially good things!!
Ces't le vie le vie...
We all met at this crossroad
and we'll part again
It was meant to happen this way
Perhaps we'll meet again
Perhaps we won't
It was written long before
we were ever born!

Layla,
All the best,
I'm on Substack recycling my better (I think) DUP poems, plus some new ones. (https://joshuabondpoetry.substack.com/)

Hi Josh, I'll definitely check it out, Ty.
Yesterday I joined Starsrite, which seems to be popular with some of the DU members. I honestly don't know what's out there, I've been out of touch for sometime now but I appreciate the suggestion.
