I want to be more active here, both posting songs and even in the forums and stuff. I've been on the site for a good while now, and I've posted 200 songs so far (of varying quality). But I haven't gotten much interaction. That's largely because I have been pretty quiet, especially with being absent for large periods of time.
I want to fix that, and maybe get more into being a part of the community here instead of just dropping off old songs from time to time. Can anyone give me advice on how to do that or help me out in that regard?

Some of the things that have helped me build a sense of community here are enjoying and commenting on others’ poetry and engaging in the forums (there are lots of cool threads in the Speakeasy forum). I have found many amazing poets here just by spending some time reading through the submissions in the competitions. You could also maybe try hosting a competition or two. In my time here, I’ve discovered that the more I engage with others, the more that engagement returns to me tenfold.

I want to do those things, but often when it comes to joining in a conversation or commenting on someone's work, I have no idea what to say beyond "Good job".
I am extremely socially awkward.

That’s completely understandable; I really struggle with that, too. In fact, I’m struggling with how to respond lol 😂
I think that most people just want to know that their words resonate with you, that what they’ve written has impacted you in some way. I try to focus my comments on how the poem made me feel, or a line or phrase that really stood out to me. Sometimes, all I can come up with is, “I really loved this” or “this is really amazing”, but then I think about how much I love getting those comments on my own poetry, and it helps me relax. It feels good just to know someone read and enjoyed my writing, and I’m sure it’s the same for others, too.

I'll give it a go and see what I'm capable of. I really appreciate you taking the time to try and help me, I really have no idea what I'm doing in a 'new' space. I say 'new' because I've been here some six years, even if quietly for long stretches, but always very inactive when it comes to talking to people.
