Episode 15/30

While employees of Baits Vending Corp. were punching time clocks and going home due to the factory being out of commission for the immediate future, the USS Stanza's crew and passengers were enjoying a much needed vacation on Risa, the tropical pleasure planet below.

EdibleWords and LordViddax played frisbee on the beach. Layla searched for sand dollars with her tail. Kinkpoet worked on his tan. brokentitanium flew a kite shaped like a Clingform cruiser.  Gahdess_Worship and calamitygin had a dueling ukele contest around the bonfire.

Captain Blaze and Commander Deannavati lounged in lawn chairs under a fauxconut tree. Virtually everything on this island paradise world was created using Genesis Terraforming Technology and an industrial sized Replicator, but ..... it didn't make it any less real or luxurious compared to the holy heck they'd been through for two weeks straight.

It was quite a gamble, but the hand of cards they played paid off in spades. Summer Yar was able to reprogram the Khanqueror Worm virus into infecting the factory once docked. Daisy's gingerbread man made for such an excellent decoy of a McCoy, even Bones McTallen was fooled into not taking a bite out of it.

Warfyroo, always fast on his feet when it came to poetry challenges, pulled off a last minute miracle as usual. Just as the USS Stanza was being boarded, he beamed the entire crew down to Risa. Then he beamed himself using a telescopic pole that dropped one of Daisy Chapel's muffins onto the control panel.

However, they would all be catching a taxi back in the morning because no one was left on the starship to beam them back aboard!

Blaze twirled the ignition keys on his finger, saying, "If only we could stay here for more than a day. Everyone has done such a great job of writing to keep up with NaPoWriMo 2020. They deserved this little vacation."

"They truly do," Deannavati replied. "So far, this had been the most amazing NaPo EVAH! The turnout was off the charts. Who would have guessed we would have over forty participants from eleven countries this year?!"

They smiled and laughed at the good fortune. So much new poetry was being written - such that could someday day end up in the much revered books they were attempting to recover!

"You said it was going to be EPIC," Blaze mused.

"Oh, Just wait until next year," Deannavati said. "You haven't seen anything yet!"

"Cheers!" they proclaimed to one another while clinking glasses of vintage Rhymulan wine.

And they enjoyed the downtime that was available to everyone, Returning or Newb, Warden or Cadet, who heeded the advice in the guidelines about writing poems ahead of schedule.

What a coincidence, I am actually learning, finally, to play my uke while working from home. BTW, a boss-sanctioned activity. However, because I just know how to play "Everything Little Things Gonna Be Alright," by Bob Marley, CalamityJin will have kicked my fanny in that duel...unless she shot into the air, of course. (listening to a lot of "Hamilton" lately)

Yes, thanks everyone. Putting plenty of brainstormed ideas to good use!

If I had known aliens were such big fans of Tang, I would have wrote that in!

Ahavati said:Greetings, Participants! Congratulations! If you have appeased your hungry Alien with a glass of Tang, you've successfully navigated through the requirements to reach day 15 of the Challenge!

I grew up drinking tang and that was in middleeast.  It was so popular that when we visited each other's homes, tang was served like it was top of the line, followed ofcourse by koolaid lemonade flavor.
As a matter of fact i still buy tang, it makes me feel like home lol

Well, damn, I don't recall that one !? The Ford Bronco must have knocked the memory clean out of my head that year.

LOL!  And it's so filled with sugar!  I remember the Florence Henderson commercials as well! I think it's still very popular across the pond, particularly in the Asian communities ( I learned that from a Korean drama ).
