jvp said:Words splashing across the digital screen, for what reason?  Sharing some tragedy, beauty, love, emotion, desire.  A chance to straighten out our random thoughts.  For me, writing poetry lifts me, typically from one form of pain to another, as the focus shifts.  Why do you write?

I only write when I have something to say. And when that becomes poetry, it grows into metaphors, personification and a more subtle way of challenging the reader with a point. You could take it literally, or as an insincere game. I try to leave it open to the readers' interpretation. A way to lure into a false sense of security and understanding, people have a need to know. To write based on questions, it is good to have answers; however vague I may answer them is upon you to decide.

Make your self laugh cry or everything inbetween

But when u can have other people read your stuff
It is a sort of a cleansing process for me
I rille enjoy it and thank u all for reading
And being around

It's a great way to use words to say the things that words can't say..

Well put Waterviolet....
it's a release of all the chaos confined in the brain
somehow putting it out there
another layer pealed from insanity

Most of the time I write when I am angry or upset to let my feelings out.

For all the money and fame ... Basho - Baldwin - Hughes - Bukowski - Dickinson ... Didn't they all die rich like Jay-Z and Beyonce?

It was never a choice. It just is. I've always wanted to be a writer of novels, adventure books... I have often tried to be a writer of novels, adventure books... Poetry is the only thing that flows naturally out of me and the only thing I've ever published.

Your alliteration alone makes me want to write more poetry.

I agree it helps me think its expanded my vocabulary and i can sound fairly smart in conversations now and not sound like a total idiot, well most of the time. Sometimes i still look like an idiot but its all thanks to righting. it also fuels my creativeness.

@threecrows - I think you make a good point about writing fuelling creativity. I think you begin to notice other areas of your life that can be changed when you hold a more creative mindset. It's the gateway to change, I think. It expands your mind and all that jazz.
