The Road Behind

Don’t look back, the road behind is closed and finished,
You cannot go back to the past, it’s not permitted,
To try to change the things that made you today.

Don’t lose track, of the goals and objectives still in your plan,
Even at times when you’ve wavered and dithered,
Make sure to keep your eyes on the prize ahead.

Don’t you backtrack, retracing your course won’t do you good,
Learn from your mistakes, you’ll catch some of the breaks,
So long as you discover your purpose and keep going.

You’ll experience setbacks, life is full of obstacles and challenges,
But there is always something to ascertain,
So long as you remain firm and determined.

And no matter how many times you’re beaten or trodden,
Have the will and the drive to always get up,
Have the courage to get yourself there,
But damn it please, don’t look back.
