There was once a gossipy madam named Fely,
Always on the loop of the county's nitty gritty.
The divorced, bankrupted, bitch and bastard - she knows the story.
Nothing scapes her,
No one is safe either...
For even if she knows not, she'd invent one, what a witty!
.......
Hi Oxy! You are the first participant to get their second 5-poem entry into the competition! Well done, and my thanks... enjoy the new week!

~ {11/4}
time
has become indistinct;
reveries shaping
dawn's elasticity
with shadowed hands
offering
three dimensional lies ~
... nights are
cannibalized by fever,
delirious shrieks
that ricochet through
empty fifths
& half drawn lines
dusted across the table ...
upon waking
i am still
that thing
in the mirror
//
[O]
~ {12/4}
acts of self creation
pivot on bladed edge
unfurling
in sinuous repetition,
the unrelenting roll
beats against
spider web fractures ~
... i hear the splintering
of my self-respect
when it caves to
the pressure of flesh ...
//
st. george's
~ {13/4}
the dirty table cloth
folded itself
against the sky,
hiding sunlight
from the cubist faces
of static saints ~
... i walk the labyrinth
in black south easter rain
as though meditation
could wash me clean
after two decades
of wearing filth
& a pained smile ...
//
toska ii
~ {14/4}
eventually
you will fade
like every half hope
set to flame,
i will leave
memories of you
as ashen offerings
to the wind
//
salt ~
~ {15/4}
i care little
for your opinion,
less for feelings
you claim
on wet cotton
or sodden tile
they do not
stir me
to taste
my sorrow
//

Hi All! For those of you still working on your first 5-poem entry, don't worry! Go at your own pace - the schedule I set up is for those who find going by a schedule helpful. Just as long as your six 5-poem entries are in by May 5th. Don't panic, just breathe and enjoy!
Meantime, I'll be submitting my second 5-poem entry very soon.
You can do it! See you later...

My second 5-poem entry:
NaPoWriMo 2016
(April 11-15)
April 11th
red planet
The ancient dry beds
of Mars
are like the veins that
run through your maps,
even if water
no longer flows,
the way corpuscles are
also trapped
as evaporation
has taken breath, and
left your humanity
lost
in the region where
blood
has nowhere else
to ghost its space.
April 12th
stained
bathed in the
stained glass reflection
of rain,
my mouth
against his belt buckle,
for them
it is my damnation,
for me it is
the enlightenment
of him,
his fingers
emerge from my hair
to place
the Eucharist
on my tongue
April 13th
carnage
Riding perimeters
of groves in his ancient truck,
I saw the rows of
peach carnage, speeding
passage, through a windshield
caked with old splattered mud.
Mud. Something I hadn't seen
since my birthday
two years ago come next week,
when the world around me
still held a semblance of green.
With my dad driving,
weathered brow furrowed like the
rows of his tinder-dried fields
giving up the ghost,
the spectrum of futures, dying.
April 14th
bella donna
Lying awake in the shallows
of a starless night,
their stillness magnifies
the pulse of your inner ear,
sloughing through the labyrinth,
our drowsy thighs touch
followed rapidly
by the next surge
April 15th
poison
You could smell it,
you provoked that smell,
dripping under my skin where I'm helpless
tainted blood, a malaria that will
never leave, running through you,
it won't stop even if a heart does,
metallic taste bitter in the mouth
hearing screams in my inner ear,
the poison saying nothing to me.

You came into my life,
Turn my world inside out.
You held a torch for me,
When everything looks dark.
You are to me is a melody,
That makes my life's lyrics...
Sync in harmony.
It wasn't easy,
it wasn't all just sunny.
We were happy,
We were lonely.
Sometimes rage eats you and me;
And your eyes was filled,
With tears because of me.
I am not worthy...
Of the love you gave to me.
Sometimes I wondered,
If I deserved all you've given me...
Maybe it's just me,
But the light is fading fast,
And the music already stops playing.
The Reason Why

The touch of your hands,
Feels different somehow.
My heart, my body and soul,
Is dying to run away from it all.
All the fighting, all the musing,
Eats us a little bit more each day.
While we still could, Baby let us,
Leave each other unbroken, please.
Coz baby, it's over now,
Can't give what I don't have.
Baby, it's over now,
Can't take what isn't mine.
I loved you, but not any more.
What's left is just a shadow,
Of a heart that was once...
Tied in strings, to yours was attached.
After You

Like a convict,
Newly released from confinement...
Like a sunray,
Scaping a cumulus cloud...
I felt liberated,
Finally free and unhindered.
I dived to the mud,
Let myself indulged.
Basking in the pleasures,
Of everything that's wanton.
What I haven't tried before,
Now I can have all the fill in my holes.
I commit to no one,
Responsible for none.
Carefree living is so exhilarating!
No one wants to keep me,
I don't give a damn!
Isn't it what I was looking for, anyhow?
There comes a day,
When nothing seems right.
No one could make me,
As happy as I hoped to be.
Oh well, maybe its just a glitch,
And other times would be different maybe?
Curtain Call

The show has ended,
The funfare subsided.
The after party looks bleek,
Somehow it lost its appeal.
The liquor, the music and the dancing...
The men, the women and the gays...
The money, the power and the sex...
Taste as stale as leftovers from yesterday!
Sleep escapes me and left me staring,
At the walls dressed in printed wallpapers.
Hugging a pillow, looking for warmth in its embrace;
Finding nothing, but the comforts of pluffy coldness.
I wonder, why am I not happy?
Having everything, materially blessed.
Why feel hallowed, am I still?
Not knowing what it was, myself is needing.
When was the time,
That I felt truly alive?
Was it when I'm still,
Whoring myself to success around?
Bitter smile, adorns my wrinkled face,
When I realized what price I sacrificed.
To gain one is to loose some,
Too late for regrets, the option's already buried, six feet underground.
Before nothingness claims my being,
A familiar voice boom in my ears.
"Come now it's time, reach for my hand...
I'd been waiting for a long long time."
As my heavy eyes closed it's lid for the final time...
A tear scapes, as I raised my hand.
My regrets, all relieved and gone!
He's here finally, we're together now.

Hello All!
Things are cruising along in the land of the WriMo, and I can't wait to see more of the entries as they come in!
HERE IS SOMETHING THAT MAY HELP THINGS ALONG:
I had a participant pm me with the following question, to which my reply follows. I think this is an excellent question:
"Until the deadline, can I still edit and change those I have already posted, even if the schedule for posting has passed?"
Jade answers: Yes, you can edit all you need to, right up to the moment before the competition closes. I and the participating judges at that time will re-read all of the entries.

POETS?!
(a gen-x sonnet)
We poets are a mighty, twisted lot
With brains to make a comic’s mind seem sane.
By using words with meanings that are not
The meanings that those words truly contain.
I write “two tunnels in that valley’s deeps
Through which my throbbing nightly train would pass”
Could be of engines, stars and mountain steeps
Or of my bending love… in words less crass.
And, god forbid, that you should cross my lines,
I’ll surely take offence where none was meant.
Attacking with those hurts my verse defines,
Though far from truth I veer, I won’t relent.
So better almost any other choose,
With poets like we are you’re bound to loose.
April 12
MR. FIX-IT
(a gen-x sonnet)
I can’t be Mr. Fix-it anymore,
My days are long and I can barely find
My way, although all agencies implore.
I run full out, but still I’m left behind
With all my life I’ve tried to give what’s right,
To be “a man” and spend my all each day.
But “all” has given me the edge of night,
That whispered dread that finally owns its stay.
And yet you seem to thrive in my distress.
As I break down, you’re getting your life done,
As senses fail, your finding your success,
And with my loss, it’s seeming that you’ve won.
As darkness falls and covers me with fear,
May all your ways be straight and your skies clear.
April 13
L.A. WOMAN
(a sestina)
Between my feet and where she has my heart,
Five hundred miles of California Love.
Between the sane and in, the thinnest line,
Restored at once with words her voice has said.
Between a shattered life and shattered soul,
Her words like lotus flowers fill my mind.
That day I turn the key and change my mind,
To give it all away for one true heart,
To feel the road that activates my soul,
To feel that afternoon and L.A.’s love,
Like Pac and Dre, the Doors and Peppers said.
It’s on her lips I’ll write my truest line.
“Your love is like a rose,” I heard that line,
But L.A. Woman’s playing in my mind.
Now knowing she’s all loving words I’ve said,
That city holds the one who holds my heart,
So it’s the only town that knows my love,
And with my heart and love, she’ll have my soul.
In spirit’s death, it’s she restored my soul,
On Highway 5, the valley’s long straight line,
The snake from anguished heart to brightest love.
With her, I find I’m breaking through my mind
Whose darkest thoughts still seek to kill my heart
And disregard all whispered words she’s said.
In verse on verse, our sacred love’s been said.
I love her madly, her poetic soul.
Our words are joined as if we had one heart,
In giving them away, we build each line.
Her words, my words as if she saw my mind,
We shape in verse the power of our love.
That asphalt run that ends in L.A. love,
It’s all that’s left for everything’s been said.
She knows the love her verses bring to mind.
I offer every gift that’s in my soul.
I’ll give her my best words, if just one line,
Then she will know the contents of my heart.
I said goodbye and highway fills my soul.
With love in mind for her, my starting line,
The end will be when I’m back with my heart.
April 14
TASTE
(a villanelle)
I long to learn your aspects by their taste,
So does my hunger daily for you grow,
That not another kiss should go to waste.
The young know urgent love that’s born in haste,
A longing for release they cannot slow.
I long to learn your aspects by their taste.
I spent my time with hurried lovers chased,
We'd have our fun but ending quickly so
That not another kiss should go to waste.
Though in our words we found our love is based,
It’s every inch of you I seek to know.
I long to learn your aspects by their taste.
Now in this love we know our hearts well placed,
I’d love to loose my tongue where it would go,
That not another kiss should go to waste.
Both tongue and length, I want my love encased
In your most passionate and joyous flow.
I long to learn your aspects by their taste
That not another kiss should go to waste.
April 15
Purrings
(a gen-x sonnet)
I love to feel the purring of your cat,
To feel the warmth and softness of her fur.
Her muscles sing with every touching that
I bring with stroking hand that gives her purr.
I love to gauge her weight upon my lap,
To have her stretch and move and circle there.
To spread the subtle gracing of her knap,
And find that spot that makes her come aware.
I love her lapping wetness on my hand,
That she would cover me with her perfume.
She coats me in her sent, to set her brand.
When I coat her in love, her purrs resume.
I do so love the hums my petting stirs,
And she the petting man that loves her purrs.

MR. FIX-IT
(a gen-x sonnet)

L.A. WOMAN

It looks like you've done three poems so far, so all you need are two more poems added to your first post - I need the entries done with five poems each - and you can start your next entry with five more new poems, and post that as your second entry, when it's ready. And by the time May 5th is here, you should have submitted six entries of five poems each, totaling thirty (30) poems.
And feel free to pm me, dear, if anything I explain seems confusing; I'll be pleased to clarify if need be.
Meantime, welcome to the WriMo, Jen!

I truly miss that you won't be able to continue on with us. I do understand however how it goes when life steps in. My best wishes to you, Jen!

So better almost any other choose,
With poets like we are you’re bound to loose.
....,,,
Lovely, Geoff, I thank you for the gift of your 2nd 5-poem entry to the WriMo competition!

Okay All...
The competition judges are in place and are reading all of the entries, and anticipate those yet to be submitted. Remember, it's never too late to send in those first entries, just as long as the competition is up and active.
When May 5th is history, the judges and I will reread every piece from the entries, and tally the scores by points.
Bags of time! Good luck, and have fun!
