I am amazed by the response. Thank You guys. I love conservation and your poetry made me happy, sad, and most importantly, made me think. I would like to state again that there are no winners or losers here. All of you are way experienced than I am. It will just be about the poetry that I can connect with the best. Love the enthusiasm.

Maternal Sorrow

Our mother’s love cannot be measured
providing for our every breath
held to her ample bosom treasured
while cruelly we hasten her death

We build and build and build some more
heralded by chainsaw cacophony
defiling forest, field and shore
forever silencing her symphony

Once upon a time to mankind she entrusted
the stewardship over all planet earth
but for riches, power, dominion we lusted
leaving good mother lamenting our birth

"Sleep - Hiding From The Touch Of Death"

A slight chill disturbs the warm air
A change is coming but it treats life so unfair

What a scene, my eyes stop to stare
On a mountain my eyes behold a living flare

Though he's dying he doesn't care
for he knows one day he'll become his own heir

Now I sit in my rocking chair
Watching Life and Death consummate their love affair

He's given a chance to prepare
Then again it seems more like war that they declare

As Fates hand strips his body bare
Over and over death is met without a prayer

Out beyond the snow and the glare
In the field I see a skeleton over there

"Moon and River"

A bright and steamy afternoon
Beside the shady path, I sat to rest my weary legs
As I looked up a lonely glimmer caught my eye
And I thought it odd, mixed in the blue, the moon seemed out of place

Next to the path, the flowing river
Filled the air with the peaceful rush of quiet water
Between the ripples, the pulsating shimmer rolled
While the orb of night tumbled over waves then faded out of sight

Rising from the green of ground
Fading with the Sun, behind my steps, the splashing drowned
By cars, where horses once strode over cobble stones
Along the way are reminder signs of history and bone

These ancient streets exclaim their story
Between the walls of homes much older than old glory
Clouds fill the empty sky, daylight casts a final sliver
Walking home through the Stockade streets, I saw the Moon and River

birds with a penis .

Let me tell you
a little something
about the precious little
bees
doing all that
buzzing and pollen
collecting

Looking for the pretty flowers
flexing their shoulders
with the powers
in their
hormone detectors

At some stage
They raise their butts

[Oh yes they do!]
and then they
Sting!

Just before they
Die

Maybe us
the men in this
unruly world
need to quit
doing the pollen collecting
flexing our shoulders
buzzing the hormone
detecting

Just to use our powers
to protect
our flowers

Just a thought; really
But maybe the
birds
know more about
the real world
than the
bees
Maybe they are
the street smart types
You know
where the book is good
but survival came from
tar
dust
and dirty
money

Who is more in pain?

His screams are cancelled out by the roaring thunder.
Who is more in pain?
His tears were washed away by the never ending rain.
Who is more in pain?

His wavering soul was straightened through the gusty winds.
Who is more in pain?
His red eyes were less painful than the pitch black sky filled with soot.
Who is more in pain?
She slits her wrists to ease the pain yet we lacerate this earth to feed our greed.
Who is more in pain?
While all ya’ll complain and fight about cutting your hair
this earth cannot do anything while we cut down her beautiful afro through deforestation
Who is more in pain?

His heart was being broken from the outside in,
Yet the earth is being destroyed from the inside out.
It’s a known fact that the earth is the only planet in our solar system where it rains.
Earth is the only planet where the tears are visible,
Where the tears are visible,
Where the tears... are visible.

So I ask you the question … who is more in pain?

Instant Nirvana
Smokey clouds swallow the ghastly moon.
Making strange shadows upon the black tar road.
I hear a trickling stream
And rustling creatures beneath overgrown weeds.
I breathe deep the cleansing air,
The stillness is beautiful,
Too fragile for a fractured soul.
A car light intrudes and quickly fades.
I have a stone in my shoe.
And a battered ciggie in my pocket.
I'll keep walking, keep walking towards oblivion
Keep walking to where the world ends.
I'm neither lonely nor free; in a world of dreams,
All allusions are real.

Beauty and danger
.........................................................

Beauty, is danger,
To this am no stranger.
Just ask any lost tourist,
Who's rescued by a ranger.

I sailed by a picturesque fjord
Was struck by the awesome sight,
Was nailed by the work of the Lord,
Hypothermia's a deadly fight!

Went gliding by the Skeletal Coast,
Overawed by the sea and the sands.
It's a pretty yet a hostile host,
Hyperthermia, dehydration at hand.

Snorkelled at a tropical reef,
It's nature's own kaleidoscope.
Stingy jellies gave me the real grief,
Without luck had no real hope!

Skiing on an alpine slope,
Enjoyed the beauty, the thrill.
Got rescued with the aid of a rope,
Hanging by the edge of the hill.

Bathing under a white cascade,
Was overjoyed and burst into song.
Doing so was a risky trade,
Falling wood made the loudest gong.

I'm no cynic, I do love beauty,
Shared with you the wisdom I gained
Warn of danger feel is my  duty
You only  take the beauty no pain.

A BADLY WRITTEN BUT HONEST POEM ABOUT NATURE
By James Hatfield

Most who write lyrics about nature are liars
Or in the very least not whole truth tellers

Or perhaps they are simply deluded
Or perhaps ignorant and simple

Nature is a made up division between mankind
And everything else that is of this planet

So let us now not speak in part truths or outright lies
So lets us now erase the imaginary line between what is human and what is not

Nature is the atom bomb and the first flowers of spring
It is the love a mother and the eating of a baby

Nature is empathetic actions and merciless rape
It is the politics of baboons and the politics of people

If you are confused and don’t get what I mean
I suggest that you use an all natural computer
To hop on the net and learn a few things.

Nature is naturally cruel

A lot of people are
awe struck
about the beauty of nature

OOOh the pretty trees
AAAAh the pretty snakes
OOOh OOh the pretty mountains

Followed by the pretty fire
burning down the forest
The pretty creatures
fighting for a fuck
Let us not forget the
lovely creatures trying to escape from a little
thing known as the food chain

That excludes
Earthquakes,
Hurricanes,
Floods,
Droughts,
Sand storms,
Sink holes,
Mud slides,
Land slides,
Avalanches,
and hail

Little things that remind us
how powerless we are
to the might of nature

Everything in nature is a constant fight for survival
Dear Darwin was right about that
Kill or be killed
making nature naturally cruel

EARTH

Born in the bowels
Of a greater body
I drop to the ground
Steaming
Nourishing the earth

For the lilies
I shall bear my mother

I shall love my lover
I shall keep my brother
All and all again
Same and same again
Till I remember you

Born on your tender lips
I heard a greater word
That left no separateness
For my consciousness,
Between my eyes and skies

No need for good byes
Nor for a death foretold

An old post of mine.

The language of storms (Sandyspeak)

A vile and retching
noise as cough and wheeze
from the lungs of hell.
Bestial breath borne
of cantankerous clouds
bombastic tossing boats
about the marina
like a toddler's tantrum
in a tub full of toys.

Ripping stilted
structures of leisure
from their footings,
banishing them to the gut
of Neptune's ire.
Tentacles of water
wrath reaching inland
felling great trees,
tangling their broken
bodies in live wires
sparking wild fires
even in a blizzard
of black rain.

A sea
spurned and churned
sings her own shanty
of pilfered promise
and revenge.
A death knell
to avenge the maiming
of her maidens
at the money clutching
hand of the rapist.

What would any mother
right of mind do ?

Gaea (Gaia)

Gaea I pray to thee for thee is she who makes all things beautiful.
The summer springs things to see as bird's fill the air with music from the songs they sing.
Listen close you can hear Gaea whisper through the trees as she hums along with the bird's and bees.

Her purfume is the suckle sweet sent of flowers in bloom, the soft winds carry her sent through an open window. Take a deep breath breath her in. Can you see, there's so much going on around you that she provides to show you.

Gaea lets you know when she's sad for her tears fill the sky. The clouds catch as much as they can before they over flow being forced to let them all go. They fall down washing the earth, they feed all that grows from the ground to give birth to new life. If you learn to appreciate the beauty in her tears, you will learn how to dance in the rain, allow it to wash away your fears.

When Gaea is angry make no mistake for her rage will make the earth shake, She will rumble under your feet. Her force will cause the sea to wave with force that will crash onto the sands like pounding fist of furry. There's no limit to her anger or what she's capable of.

Gaea I pray to thee, giving thanks for all that you provied. The season's that change. The wonders you display, Gaea mother earth we give praise to thee. I give back to you the love you give to me. Blessed be.
