Summer of 2015

Summer's Over Now...

The summer seemed to go by in a haze, and I drifted day to day in and out of bliss...
Your attention feeding me and creating a craving, the taste of your lips quenched my thirst and your pretty words left my mind starved for more...
The moon and stars were nothing compared to the beauty of being wrapped up in your rapture and I passed the sleepless hours counting the seconds until I could return,
One, two, three...
The excitement and anticipation of what was to come became the melody of my heart, drowning out the phone that would never ring.
We built plans on promises, I with brick, you with sand...
So while I stand firmly rooted in hope, I pray the Autumn breezes don't send you away, not when I was so close.
Finally, so close...
After the madness of the heat of day and the magic of drawn out sunsets, it's time to see what still remains...
The summer's over now...

Thank you all for writing and contributing in this comp.  Each entry was beautiful, different and unique in its own way.  This time around the judges were instructed to comment on their first choice and the rest were optional.  Most of the votes were spread out.

I like the commentary about society and its a break from the usual poems we normally see.

The fact that she addressed in an unbiased and non judgmental way offering the pros and cons on the issue, with balanced reasoning, it stood out for me.  It takes a lot of courage to speak up about any controversial subject especially involving women and children and to do so effectively throughout the argument with determination speaks volumes.  Powerful observational prose!

So many.great things happening this week! This competition was unique for me and to receive this trophy here by reputable judges is a wonderful honor.

Thank you to all the judges and our host Vee for hosting a fun and light comp.that revealed some interesting Summers.
