Aww, great comp idea! I hope I can come up with something

Ok, here's my entry...:)

Tess

She doesn't care that the song
Is on repeat or mind that me and
Johnny Cash sound horrible together
she's content beside me and grateful
for the roast chicken I made her for dinner

She could not care less about how
I've been slack all week, month
and have no plans to do better
or that I'm probably gaining more  weight than I should
and don't give much damn about
that neither

she smiles in her clownish way
radiates a kind warmth
that hugs me and restores my soul
an amazing dog
she sees my essence and accepts
without judgement
like a best friend

a true comfort that's unconditional
loyal by nature

I love her
so easily

Xena says I must but insists on adding a line or two-I told her she doesn't have thumbs....she just cocked her head to side and gave me a blank stare.

You'd better if you want your kitchen pristine during the week. I look forward to your entry.

yeah

me and puppy are on the same page

we both been tired of the leash
should have burned pictures
changed my email address
fixed these loose floorboards
some time ago
but love
shaving
change
are ideas only used by those
who believe that the universe is a just place
that there is a god
and he is kind

forgiveness
man i
i sware i thought it was the right thing to do
is as debatable
as the dead eye
what the fuck are you doin?
different colored cornea covering stare
from
a friend whose seen it all
when she peeps you gettin high
and jerkin off again

she sleeps still
soundly
with all my apologies
after killing the cat next store
and being slapped around a bit
in front of the neighbors

it's enviable
even after being scolded
to dance and play
chase toys
eat and wait for a treat

sit by my side
when both of them are bad

conscience may only come
posthumously
cuz i don't think either of us care right now
we'll never leave the house or yard again
never ask reasons why
reefer and bacon taste so good
we just agree that they do

Tough lil' scottie dog
Hard of head. Sunk, not swam
Cement pond his doom

R.I.P. Duff

Or so the story's told

His daughter was my favored pet
When I was but a boy
Still crapping in protective pants
She was just a pup

Marguerite, Miss Fatty Pants
Was my bestest friend
We terrorized the countryside
She with her big girl bark
Me a happy, laughing lark

Chasing after rabbits...
Squirrel, and the like
She'd roll herself in grassy knoll
Grunting like a pig
Then waddle over where I sat
Share a bit of apple
I'd tell her all my hopes and dreams
Silently she's listen

Growing tall and strong
My short stuff just grew old
Her muzzle went from black to grey
Her bum expanded wide
Until the day she wouldn't come
Not even for the dinner bell
Or a favorite treat
A different bell had rung for her
Her time had come to go

We laid her rest where she belonged
A rich and thickened soil
(A terrier, through and through)
Now, every spring a flower blooms
Among a thousand more
Beckoning for me to come
Sit with her awhile

The Best Part Of Home

Took a stroll
yesterday
down the badly
paved
boulevard
(just drinking the fresh spring air)
sucking
the sounds
of pigeons
and doves
cooing
the warnings
of sun-sets
and bed-time
for chicks

Heard the
revving of street lights
and the
purring
of night shifters
preparing a
day
at the office

Took a stroll
yesterday
down the badly
paved
boulevard
(just drinking the fresh spring air)
arriving home
at dusk
was the highlight

When the
bark, yelp
and happy
tale
of Roxy
let the
neighbors
know
I was there

-x-

December of 99 until yesterday

One last ride with you ol' friend
One more ride until the end
To this desert where we used to run

It was the hardest ride with you for sure
And I remember just a ball of fur
But that was so many years ago

We had a good run and I'll remember you forever
I can't forget how we matured together
And all those memories will never fade

The hardest part wasn't finding you
Because I knew it was going to end soon
Nor was it hardest to pet you one last time

It was tough to dig the hole
Not because the stony soil but
Knowing you're gone for good

The hardest part was laying you down
And I sat there still without a sound
For a while until I had to bury you

Sixteen years
Damn
I was just thirteen
But man
How I'm going to miss the times we had

I'll take a ride for you ol' friend
Another ride again and again
And I'll sit there quiet and remember you

Goodbye Dude
