Poetry Contest

Thinking abstractly, if colors could talk, what would they have to say?
Imagine that you are a color, any one at all;  what would you have to say about yourself and/or the world and things that you give "color" to?

Two weeks, poems only (any style/length), no collabs, as many entries as you want--be as many colors as you want, go wild & have fun with your Crayola crayon box!

(personifying the color pink)

I Painted a Love Scene

I sprawl myself across a sunset
That lies seductively in the evening sky
I blush the fair cheeks of a girl
Who waits with a twinkle in her eye

She waits under a cherry tree
In a soft bed of its pigmented blossoms
For her mischievous lover approaches
And though he wears a smirk, he is handsome

The lips I gently tint meet
In an embrace sweet as homemade cotton candy
Her own delicate flower I caress
And when he touches she's aroused so easily

As the sunset scurries away
Sight of me fades slowly into the shadows
Yet the young girl remembers fondly
And though her body is weary, she glows

green
-------------

You would not see me in the grass.
No one has eyes like mine.
I am the painted wall bruised through time to be less than how I started.
You can see me in the bile that kills all that's bad in you.
Remove me and your brain will tremble.

What a waste of all that's good, when
I die you will see me brown, that means
slow decay, rebirth.

Catch it through your blinds every February.

Dryad's Speak; Funny Familiar Shades

Yellow, flickers of sunlight
through golden tousled hair
forming tiny perfect rainbows
fringing eyes of deepest blue
flecks of the sky
in contracting iris
soft blush pink lips smiling
showing pearly white teeth
we sojourned in hamlets
among the green
My first Love

Prism of colours
through falling tears
like a blaze of sunset
silver wings on leaving plane
carrying my love away

Raven hair, black as night
hair falling on shoulders
brown expressive eyes
looking down at me
comfortingly whispers
You will be alright
theatre lights flashed on
plummeting me to depths
of dreams and darkness
appendicitis out,
red hot pain flashed

there memories, not unlike...
pure crystal clear water
bubbling along a river bed
with brown, yellow and orange
pebbles, strewn with falling leaves
brown and grey towards decay

Lavender perfume
permeating through my room
scents of lilacs
teasing my dreams
ember in my heart
glowing in sync
with its beat
spurred on by hope
Alone now, with sepia photographs
of yesteryears
rose-tinted memories

I am walking towards
the rainbows of adventures
tomorrow

you kiss your moonlight colors forgetting me
i am clear
seemingly transparent and truthful

i am the birthplace
of every poet you have battled and lost
i am wisdom
unnoticed but immaculate

if colors could speak
i would be the one who spoke the softest

i am easy to ignore but astounding
in my element

Death & Vitality

In the shadows I slither
For I represent darkness
Mournful cries of loss
And hateful callousness

Adorning bodies of souls in pain
I am the claw marks of demons within
Dulling bright eyes and spirits
Feeding off trouble, tears, and sin

Yet I wasn't always so dismal
Ancient Egypt revered my rich hue
I was the fertile soil by the Nile
I was life, not death; 'tis true

Great entries so far--you've got the hang of it!

poet Anonymous

Roy G. Biv

It is rare for me,
to take a moment
& reflect
on this life.

An immortal chore,
I undertake,
providing spectrum
to your world.

It is from my veins,
the Red flows,
for leaves & sunsets,
the gem's luster &
flat mineral tones,

And a drop mixed
with sunshine,
dresses fruit
in Orange shades,
while trimming sunsets.

Drops of my spirit,
give the sun Yellow rays,
and are worshipped
by noble, ancient cultures
as the source of all life.

My eye's iris,
in Irish pride,
fills in Green
the envious heart,
& the rich man's coffers.

Tears I've shed,
in their Blue millions
fill the seas & titles
the songs of only
the most broken-hearted.

Lost dreams,
in Indigo waves
fill the nighttime,
it is my sorrow
that cloaks the Earth.

But my hopes,
lend Violet whispers,
to the field's bloom
that held, in maiden hands
fuel young men's desire.

If colors could speak

Radiant colors scattered  throughout the universe
Colors race through the galaxies with great speed
Gracing the earth with warmth
Trees of green
Flowers of red
Brilliant colors of life
Love and hope
One by one they are fading
These colors are fading into a dark
abyss
They are aching to be seen , but the earth's beauty is slowly
Disappearing in plain sight
The colors are asking why?

Why would you drop bombs on the earth so green?
Why would you pollute the earth's natural streams?
Why would you dump poisons in the deep blue seas?
Why ?
Why?
Why would you cut down the vibrant green trees?
The colors are disappearing
They are not what they use to be
Radiant colors once seen throughout the universe
Is getting more scarce . Can't you see?

Colors of blues flash to the universe sending streaks of colorful brilliance to
the skies
Yellows and oranges are splashed one by one on
Baby petals needing , just wanting a chance to grow
Please save us save our beauty
Weak eyes are counting on our beauty
For inspiration
We lift wounded spirits
Make sad hearts gay
And we fill the earth with joy
Save us save our lifeline
Save yourselves
We can exist without you
Don't you know that when our beauty are seen through your
eyes, our existence would be more worthwhile ?
Save us
Please find some love in your hearts
Save us from being dull and faded on planet
Earth.
Please let our beauty shine through You.

Rainbow

The pot of gold we search for at the end of every rainbow
When rain tears and sunshine appear
Were all searching for a different thing
And each colour represents
To us something new
Like for me yellow is sun
The ocean blue

Red and yellow and pink and green
For the fireworks life
Blows up on the sky's screen
Purple and orange and blue
Were looking at the same sky
I saw the same rainbow as you

Even though the treasure in the pot that's at the rainbows feet
Hold something different
For us each
Don't forget about indigo and the violet flow
Where the colours run
And sunshine follows

Reflected like an arc
That is formed and assembled
It holds colours not even the eye can see
And if your looking for that pot of gold
You better move quickly

As you walk towards a rainbow
It simply steps away
we might see the same rainbow
But to each
the colours reflect in different ways

When the light bounces off raindrops
It's playful rain
The sunshine
And the atmosphere
Sure no how to entertain

Just because no ones ever found the
Pot of gold at the end of the rainbow
Doesn't mean that they should stop trying
For you never no what you'll find
When you decide to never give up
Clouds hold the tear drops
You hold the cup

So red and yellow and pink and green
A spectacular sight
I ever have seen

So I'll keep looking for the pot .... At the end of the rainbow
And I won't be disappointed
For I couldn't find just one colour to follow x

I wonder if this poem is suitable for the competition….

Not a bitch

either black or white
rarely grey and never pink.
sometimes smokey red or -
crème and the varieties.
