personally i don't agree with war either
but we can't blame civilians or soldiers
for our government's decisions.
sadly war seems inevitable, most [not all] soldiers are both right and wrong, good and bad, some are just pure fucking evil, but it's like all things, we can't blame the whole group for what a few bad ones do and whatever the cause, we can't neglect that's a whole lot of innocent and some not so innocent people dying.
but honestly what are we going to do about it?
it's us and what army?
but we can't blame civilians or soldiers
for our government's decisions.

My mommy says you have cooties, that's why you look cute. She also said that I should be nice. I can't believe her nerve! I'm cute and nice as can be! Anyways, I wanted to tell you how nice of you it is to be all that way away from home for me. Thank you. You're such a nice man to be doing this. I don't even know you. Do you want to be my husband someday? Like my Barbie and Ken dolls? I'm sure I could get us some nice flowers and a good mudcake from the stuff the flowers are buried in. My mom says I'm pretty too. I hope you say yes, oh please do, 'cause mommy told me that I should marry someone who's really brave. What's it like? Getting to do all the cool stuff in the movies? I bet it's scary, but you win just by standing there, right? You're so amazingly cool, I just have to write this and make it long so you feel happy. I always feel happy when grandma sends me letters that are long. It's supposed to show that you care. Well, I care very much for you. I'll cheer you on from over here, so don't worry. I'll even make my friends help out. With all of our effort, you can come back and be with your family, so you're not lonely.

Six-feet for the Elite..
As a child I owned a few dolls
some broken some mauled..
and putting the pieces
back together
dressing them for
different weather. I
sometimes flew them around
like puppets
without strings..
Then I remember watching
this movie.. Of war
new to me. but
I was taken, breathless
slow to speak, couldn't think
or even fathom the courage
and devotion it must of took
to overlook the tons of
reason why not to fight.
For each foot step took
taking you into the planes
of deranged in genius captains
flying the most precious cargo
into hells deepest dog houses..
I had to and still do
salute.. leave these simple words
desired tribute to the few
the proud and the elite..
I pray we meet on the other side
so i can listen as you guide
my weary mind into the place
you graced your presence...

Interesting conversation here- very reflective of the greater global community. In our efforts to be right, to win, we put each other down. In war, we kill each other. In the United States, military service is 100% voluntary. I could say domething about a silver spoon, but will refrain. I joined to get money for college so, in a sense war, or the concept of it, paid for my higher education. I am eternally grateful to the taxpayers, many of whom never served (I still respect their decision not to join as the military is not for everbody) but nevertheless enjoy certain freedoms paid for by blood spilt on the battlefield. If I read the competition correctly, it said "Sending out Support". Poems or letters that show otherwise are for a different competition, like "Anti-war." In closing, I remember the words of my drill sergeant,"You're an asshole and are not entitled to an opinion." Or, was it worded something different?

Yeah, we all join these competitions, and we know the judge is biased in some aspects, but you said it yourself: it's just practice. =/ That being said, I really don't know why you're spamming the competition, which has rules to define what the mod wants.

I have always enjoyed your poetry and comments. Actually,I liked your poem in this thread--it was heartfelt and definitely something that a disgruntled Muslim might say to a foreign fighter on their homeland soil.
But, if I read this competition correctly, it said "Sending out Support". Poems or letters that show otherwise (meaning not in support of the military) are for a different competition, like "Anti-War." I have opened a competition on this website where the entry on this thread may be more appropriate. In closing, I remember the words of my drill sergeant,"You're an asshole and are not entitled to an opinion." Or, was it worded something different? You may have mentioned the proper idiom.

I have always enjoyed your poetry and comments. Actually,I liked your poem in this thread--it was heartfelt and definitely something that a disgruntled Muslim might say to a foreign fighter on their homeland soil.
But, if I read this competition correctly, it said "Sending out Support". Poems or letters that show otherwise (meaning not in support of the military) are for a different competition, like "Anti-War."
