- The Rainbow of The Loa -

A Blessed Miracle in Three Acts

Act One: The Dance

Walking through the jungle one day, in tune with nature's soul,
I chanced upon a clearing, where people danced without control.
Like children all in a circle, beneath the towering cypress trees...
The children of the Loa, swayed with the warm summer breeze.
Singing songs of great antiquity to the spirits of old mama earth,
They heaped about them her blessings, celebrating life and birth!
I felt the spirits upon their backs, like horsemen riding the wind...
And there was peace in that clearing, for no gods did they offend.
Soon the rain began to pour, but still the dance continued long...
For the sky's tears were gentle and cool, nothing feeling wrong.

Act Two: The Song

Have you seen the way children play, the innocence in their eyes,
The way they look upon the entire world, the forest and the skies?
So did those who danced that day appear to all who did behold...
The awakening of the rain to their song, like a prophecy foretold.
In the glistening glow of the sun, through the raindrops' curtain...
I swore that I could see the spirits, whose light was ever certain!
They danced with the dragonflies, whose wings hummed in time,
With the song of the Loa, that the children put into sacred rhyme.
And mama earth, she heard that song and I could feel her smile...
As all her creatures, great and small, remained happy for a while.

Act Three: The Miracle

In harmony with mama earth, the children called her every name,
Their eyes filled with her love, lit up by the light of her living flame.
What miracle could people ask, who see delight in every moment?
I stayed to watch this spectacle, spellbound by its' enchantment.
Suddenly, the rain did cease whilst quiet was all the world below,
As from the canopy of the trees, descended the colorful rainbow.
I felt such peace at seeing this, as cannot be described too well,
For nature held the magic, and the celebration itself was a spell!
The Loa were the spirits I had seen, who came to bless the land,
Because their children loved them, not because of any command.

::eye-sea::

See in my wide-spread
serenity of branching eye-sea,

A thousand million
crystalline salts of our dissolved love,

Rational jumping flickers
of disappearing thought fishes too,

Need them in exaggerated doses
albeit pragmatic blue waters,

Life engulfs love wherever,
undercurrents or shores or breeze.

Tastes like heaven either in pains or fun,
Seeds in buds of nascent winglets

A singlet bird flutters to cope up
with greying dashes of love-dust clouds

Let it happen! Let it happen!
For an eagle emerges out of rainy rainbow bashes.

Rainy days and new beginnings

We ventured into the afternoon
a little hesitant and shy
The rain sprinkled gently
from a cloudy, heavy sky

Before long we were laughing
Unwinding into relaxed
Driving through the countryside
Listening to thunder clap

Our stories just got deeper
like the puddles by the car
As the thirsty earth drank in it's fill
aquatic noises stilled my heart

We inhaled the scents
of life refreshed
Wistfully splashing in
the waters it left

The night sky appeared
and the storms just blew past
All had been quenched
Restoration at last

[left]Rain drops falling down my window
wind making tree branch's shake
moments pass so slow now
making thoughts in my mind
my thoughts go back to childhood to memories of rainy days
I can steel smell bread cooking that mother made
my father's pipe lingered in the air
such memories these are that the rain brings
I looked again to the rain drops on my window
knowing the day will be even more sweet and fresh when it ends
I think to myself I can't wait
and now the sound of the falling rain is all I hear
leaving a feeling of nostalgia and memories of long lost childhood
I have no idea when the day will renew and so I sit here waiting o

Summer Thunderstorm

Another evening thunderstorm, making its presence known
Knocking out the power, leaving us in total quiet and growing darkness

Resisting the urge for light, we forgo the candles and flashlight
Choosing instead to snuggle tightly on the couch and just listen

The pitter-patter of the rain above is constant, almost soothing
Till a flash of white brillance, then disheartening rumbling

I try to figure the distance, counting off the seconds
While you nestle closer within my warm, safe arms

Occasional wind gusts blow the windows, rattle the shutters
Sending a chill all over, drawing you in even closer

Then the violence subsides, the gentle rainfall resumes
I get up and open the window, look out thru the screen

Immediately I am awashed in the smell of the rain
That sweet, damp freshness that promises renewal, hope

Suddenly I'm startled, your arms slide around my waist
Feeling your head resting softly on my bare back, tickling hair

Soft kisses then begin, with the occasional brush of your nose
Sending tingles up and down my spine, desire swelling

Turning to face you, I look into your darkened face
Seeing the outline of your beauty in the fading twilight

Our lips meet, soft kisses at first, then building in urgency
I scoop you up, carrying you in my arms up to bed

Outside the storm continues, the romantic music plays on
First lulling our minds, then seducing our bodies, and finally rekindling our hearts

I listen to no music,
My headphones are not in,
Yet there's a drumming in the air,
Along with goosebumps on my skin.

Constant rhythm is going,
Slowing here and there,
Playing heavier and louder,
Does this drumming in the air.

And O! I realise what it is,
(It was driving me insane)
I look out the window, and smile to myself,
For it is nothing but the rain.

Freely sing at the
coming rain, a
wet revival,
cleansing the stains
of past pains,
toiling flowers whisper
skyward for nourishment,
relief from the summer sun,
droplets slide down sinew grasses,
water tables for the masses fill,
life-giving elixirs kill the drought,
you rejoice as your own tears
fall like the soothing droplets,
now past.
